Welcome back Fellow Darkish!
“The Jolly Jug, boy—hah, now there’s a tavern worth your boots. Five silvers gets you a jug of ale big enough to drown in, and the whispers that come with it go down just as smooth. And between you and me, the ale ain’t piss-water either.”

MAP DESCRIPTION
The Jolly Jug is a cozy, two-storey tavern, simple, welcoming, and beloved for its fine beer and hearty meals. By night, its common room fills with a lively mix of patrons, and as every adventurer knows, a mug or two can loosen many tongues.
A tavern is always a fine place to gather rumors and leads. For the right coin, the proprietor will happily point you toward someone worth buying a drink for. If rest is what you seek, the second floor offers plain but comfortable rooms at a fair price.
Yet there are whispers of something more. Beyond the kitchens and storeroom lies a private office, seldom mentioned, rarely seen. Those who claim to have entered it turn vague when asked why. Perhaps it’s nothing more than the owner’s workspace… or perhaps there’s more worth discovering.
And should you decide to slip around after dark, beware the innkeeper’s loyal hound: its kennel sits just beside one of the kitchen entrances. Best not to wake it without good reason.
NOTES
The Jolly Jug is a two-level battlemap full of rooms and tactical opportunities; fights here encourage verticality and clever positioning.
Stealth option: Sneaking through the common room and trying to reach the back office unseen makes for a fun non-combat playstyle that shows off the map’s versatility.
The Dog: The dog’s bed is to the right of the ground-floor entrance. Animal friendship (or offering a steak) can keep it from making trouble during midnight skulking.
The Office: The back room looks like an office; expect documents, a few outfits, an abacus for tallying, and a chest containing the tavern’s earnings. It appears to be the owner’s workspace, but a careful search of the papers might uncover something shady. Or maybe nothing at all.
Books & Paintings: Uncommon for such a plain tavern, there are signs of an appreciation for art scattered between the mugs and barrels. What stories do those pieces hide?
The Corridor: The second-floor walkway overlooks the common room, perfect for safe attacks from above or for spying on patrons below.

Welcome Back, Fellow Darkish!
It’s been a long time since our Rolling Barrel, so we thought it was time for another tavern — this one smaller, more classic, and built across two distinct floors. We’ve poured a lot of care into each space, from the entrance hall to the storerooms, and we hope you’ll enjoy exploring it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
As always, let us know what you think, and don’t forget to leave a like or a comment if the map caught your imagination!
That’s all for this month, Fellow Darkish.
We wish you great adventures and NAT20s,
The Darkest Maps Team
