Welcome back Fellow Darkish!
The room’s silence was broken only by the crackle of fire and the shuffle of your boots—until it happened. A click, the trap was sprung, and cold steel spears flashed out, burying themselves in the wall to your left. This time you were spared, but will fortune shield you when the trap strikes again?.

MAP DESCRIPTION
Dangerous Bridge is, like the other rooms in the dungeon, a large rectangular stone chamber whose only exit lies directly opposite you.
The bridge spans a deep chasm, but falling isn’t the only danger in this room.
On the left side, three traps fire heavy iron spears in a steady rhythm, spears that not only deal serious damage but can also knock you off the bridge. Crossing requires both care and speed, and the challenge becomes even more perilous when monsters try to slow you down and pin you within spear range.
NOTES
Dangerous Bridge is an extremely hazardous map that can inflict unexpected damage on the party, but it also offers tactical terrain for creative play.
The Traps: The DM can easily adjust their lethality, announcing trap turns or keeping them secret, triggering them one at a time or all at once, and varying their activation frequency will greatly change the difficulty of the challenge.
The Lever: The lever on the northwest wall, directly beneath a brazier, deactivates the traps. Sending in an agile party member to reach it and clear the way for everyone else is certainly a sound tactic.
Fall Damage: The bridge sits many meters above the floor below, risking significant fall damage for anyone who tumbles off.
Climbing Back Up: There appears to be no easy way to climb back once you’ve fallen, but the heavy iron spears scattered on the ground might be useful if employed with creativity and skill.
The Braziers: The braziers hanging from the ceiling can be dropped by breaking the chains that hold them, a fun surprise for unsuspecting enemies.
The Enemies: The dungeon can host a wide range of foes, but this map especially favors multiple small enemies equipped with crossbows or ranged spells.

Welcome Back, Fellow Darkish!
Here we are with the third map of May from The Dungeon series!
We continue our exploration and find the first room featuring some old friends every player knows and loves for their battle-changing potential: traps!
While designing this map, dozens of absurd scenarios sprang to mind that we’d love to playtest, and honestly, we can’t wait for our DM to throw it at us in a session !
I can already picture our companions doing everything but crossing the bridge, and we’re really curious to see what they’ll come up with!
We absolutely encourage you, dear Dungeon Masters who will run this map, to share any creative, or downright reckless, uses your players come up with for the traps and the iron spears they shoot out!
For those who noticed the first version of this post, we want to thank you for your patience and understanding.
Sometimes Patreon tweaks technical parameters mid‑month, and this time it really took us by surprise, but we didn’t want this hiccup to disrupt our usual schedule of three maps per month and cause you any inconvenience.
We hope we’ve sorted everything out and that you enjoy this map!
We wish you great adventures and NAT20s,
The Darkest Maps Team
