MAP DESCRIPTION:
Monster Den is a vast cave full of twists and tunnels, the perfect lair for owlbears, werewolves, and beasts of all kinds.
Throughout the cave, the remains of prey demonstrate the ferocity and hunger of the creatures that dwell within, ready to attack anyone who invades their territory.
The cave is a maze of paths and elevations that the monsters navigate with ease but can pose serious challenges to those who wish to explore its depths.
At the far end of the cave, well-protected and hidden, lies the monster’s main lair, a place where it likely rests or hides its young and eggs.
In a secluded niche, reachable only by jumping over a chasm, there is an ancient altar dedicated to a deity.
Be cautious when entering this cave: the line between being prey or predator will become extremely thin.
NOTES
Monster Den is a medium-sized dungeon, rich in forks, elevations, and obstacles, with wide combat zones but also narrow passages, providing varied combat experiences as you progress.
The entrance to the cave is found on the Monster Den Entrance map.
The bones of the victims may hide clues, items to recover, or be exactly what you came for. A trinket among the bones could reveal that the missing person you were searching for is one of the victims.
The Den may hide young or eggs of the creatures that could become future companions or valuable loot.
The Goddess Altar can offer buffs, be the reason the cave needs to be cleared, serve as an interesting source of information related to your campaign, or much more.
Visible blood trails on the ground can indicate the path usually followed by the monsters and thus where it would be easier to encounter them.
Facing the monster head-on is an option, but you can also bypass it by following the path on the left, allowing you to more easily surprise the monster. Just be careful not to fall into the void during the jumps.
Packs of monsters led by an Alpha can make the dungeon much more dangerous to traverse.
Here we are with the second map of the month, Fellow Darkish!
After Monster Den Entrance, we couldn’t resist providing you with a beautiful cave to explore and hunt creatures of all kinds, right?
We aimed to make it a compact but very varied dungeon, offering a more interesting and tactical play experience compared to mere direct confrontation.
We know how much you love dungeons, and we took the opportunity to give you another one, hehehe.
That’s all for this map, Fellow Darkish!
As always, we invite you to like, comment, and let us know which maps you would like us to create for your games!
