MAP DESCRIPTION:

Four Unique Biomes, Four Unique Challenges

At the heart of this arena lies a stone ruin, connecting four wildly different areas.

Each zone is unique, yet they all share a common boundary: towering rocky cliffs that encircle the entire area, creating an enclosed space from which there seems to be no escape.

Within each biome, you’ll find a circular area surrounded by Runes; for ease, we’ll refer to these as Spawn Points, but their function is purely indicative and can vary greatly depending on the narrative you weave into the map.

Additionally, there are four minor Power Spots to utilize as buff zones, objectives to seize, or however you wish.

Forest Biome: The Forest Biome may seem gentle at first glance, but fierce beasts prowl, and even the water isn’t safe.

The Spawn Point, or objective, is marked by a circle of stone runes.

Elevated areas abound, providing perfect vantage points for ranged characters to shine.

In the lower left, one of the map’s Power Spots can be observed.

Volcanic Biome: Traversing the volcanic zone is a challenge in itself, with scorching temperatures testing the party’s endurance.

Battling while navigating the treacherous paths of protruding stones is perilous.

The area’s enemies might include Pyromancers, Fire Elementals, and other creatures aligned with the element.

The area’s Spawn Point is located on the metal grate to the right of the biome, while the Power Spot is on the rock to the left, near the wooden bridge.

Desert Biome: The desert zone, seemingly easy to cross, is designed to be riddled with hidden traps. Lightly marked on the map are areas where we suggest the dynamics of classic wall traps that shoot darts when triggered.

We’ve not overdone it, preferring to leave the narrative description and quantity of traps up to you. The numerous walls provide opportunities for ambushes, and the desert area is an ideal place to position hordes of small but bothersome monsters.

The Spawn Point is in the lower left, within the stone circle, while the Power Spot is on the stone pulpit at the center of the zone.

Toxic Biome: The Toxic Biome is inhospitable, and breathing its noxious fumes for too long can cause issues.

The enemies in this area might be zombies and various types of undead, immune to the toxic effects.

Quickly exiting the area without attempting to exterminate the endless enemies emerging from the toxic water might be the winning strategy.

The Spawn Point is on the circle of precarious planks in the lower right, while the Power Spot is on the spiral rock to the left.

NOTES:

This time, your request has been a true challenge, Fellow Darkish!

We hope to have met the expectations of an Arena that could host various gameplay dynamics and is quite different from the usual circle with a few elements inside.

We drew inspiration from PvP arenas and PvE dungeons from various games, aiming to encapsulate their dynamics and concepts into four distinct contexts simultaneously.

We envisioned this arena as a place designed and built specifically for combat, detached from normal reality and accessible through portals or similar contrivances.

It took us a tremendous amount of time, almost thirty days of work between the concept creation and the final execution, but we consider the experiment a success!

What do you think?

Leave us your feedback, let us know if all the effort was worth it, if you like the map, and how you would use it!

That’s all for now, Fellow Darkish, we’ll be back soon with the next map of this month!

We wish you, as always, great adventures and NAT20s!
