Eldritch Dungeon [66x25] Poll Winner

Welcome back, Fellow Darkish!

From this quote by H.P. Lovecraft, we created this month's Poll Map, and after much research, the Eldritch Dungeon was born. It's a place where reality is distorted by dark forces and incomprehensible horrors that defy logic and reason.

As you can see, there is also the download, available for the Raising Hero tier and above, of eight extra versions compared to those normally available.

We are working on a new Tier and this is a little "free taste" that we want to offer you before its opening.

MAP DESCRIPTION

(Also) this week you asked loudly for a Dungeon and you left us several suggestions! We have selected some of them, including the request to create an Eldritch dungeon, and in the end during the project ideation phase this theme took over among all of them, inspiring us a lot!

Deep in the desert, among ancient and mysterious ruins, an ancient portal has been found. Those who entered it never returned, and you great heroes have been called upon to solve its mysteries.

Once you cross the portal, you will immerse yourself in the horrors of the Eldritch Dungeon, a dark maze of mysterious galleries illuminated only by strange pulsating and bioluminescent cysts.

The dungeon unfolds between corridors and squares where the group will have to be very careful about the strange horrors that could appear before them, putting not only their lives but also their mental health in serious danger.

Once you have crossed this disturbing structure, what adventurers will find will not be salvation through an exit but rather a window on the horrors that could be unleashed on earth if they fail in their mission: to close the extradimensional portal from which the Great Old Ones threaten to enter and drive away those who have already arrived.

Will you be able to face your greatest fears and advance through the Dungeon or will you be overwhelmed by terror?

NOTE

• The small archaeological camp outside the Dungeon is the perfect place to determine the details of your mission, managing to translate inscriptions on ruins, talking to interesting NPCs or finding clues in the surrounding area.
• In this Dungeon we focused a lot on the material rendering of the elements and on differentiating the solidity and reality outside the dungeon with what is inside.
• In this type of maps, the atmosphere that surrounds the players is as important as the actual enemies. Being inside the dungeon, feeling its smells and perceiving its stickiness and fleshy texture should be stressful for adventurers, who will have to have a strong mind and heart to reach the end of this map.
• We thought a lot about what elements to include, not wanting to give the impression that the dungeon was inhabited by anything other than monsters, finally opting for these luminous eggs/globes.
• From the transparent and gelatinous cells of the Luminous Globes, small swarms of monsters could emerge, or the entire globe if broken could release poisonous fluids or gas.
• The Luminous Globes may also need to be broken to prevent the portal from opening, as if they were energy nuclei.
