2024-09-07 14:16:41 +0000 UTCIt ought to be fit for purpose. Cavalry? Can skimp on some areas to improve absolute to ride. Infantry duty? Can skip on visibility so closed helms are a go. Gotta fit task and purpose.. and budget I suppose cos neither of those matters if you can't afford it. Also from HEMA tournament experience: sometimes people just have different priorities, like mobility over limb safety and such. And since people are people I can imagine the same happening back then.
