Othomhime was maybe not just a beacon of hope but a person who 100% showed her personality. And as Jimbei said on the Sun ship to Koala; "Not knowing someone makes you scared of them?". Even tho she is not the coolest personality they get to know her. And knowing her makes them like her? She is like something solid ground that they didnt have anymore when she got above.
