I can imagine she understands how Duke feels since 1. She feels the same thing hoping for Duke to not leave her, since emotional attachment, and 2, i know it’s part of the style but I can imagine the woman’s hair with scribbles represent some type trauma that she went through similar to Duke and she’s just better at hiding it ig (sorry that i went matpat on this i straight up just love ur comics and characters ok)
