The Papercraft Cottage

I wanted to kick the New Year off with something new. And yes, I've made a papercraft house before, but this new cottage holds a secret!

I've been brainstorming and tinkering and iterating and revising, and this has born "2-Minute Papercraft 2.0," a framework that I'll be building upon over the next weeks and months. It's a balance between paper efficiency and build simplicity, and it even comes arranged over three pages, no poster mode required!

I'm very eager to hear your feedback, so please see page four of the PDF for instructions (yes, this one has instructions!) and come back to this post to tell me about your experience. That said, you will have to trust me that some of the strange folds will only become clear with my next project...

And finally, there are 2D image files too, for those of you on virtual table top. ;)

Thanks to you, this project is released under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.

Happy to hear it Laura, thanks! I also hope to make more and expand on this idea some time soon.

Made this and loved it, too! With a little trial and error it was easy to assemble, but I really like the idea of a video guide, I'd watch that. I also hacked it to give it an extra story. It was a hit! Now looking for excuses to put the other 2MT papercraft projects into my game... Thanks for making these, they are so cool!

Great to hear! I want to put a video guide together actually, since my future papercraft will all follow this same template, albeit in different arrangements. It only occurred to me later that I didn't mark the house corner folds, so I'm glad you found them alright.

Just put it together this afternoon! All the fold lines were clear and the end result needed a lot less glue than I initially expected, cool stuff. Instruction page was handy to have, didn't run into any trouble with interpreting them. If the instructions get really complicated on the next project, maybe you could use another PDF layer to leave additional notes about the intent behind the folds or a general order of operations.
