The Luminescent Cave

A glowing tunnel suitable for the Underdark or flavorful mountain pass.

This map was an experiment in a more whimsical line style, which I used in an effort to give the tunnel the look of a rounded floor. It doesn't look so fabulous on its side (as seen above) but works great in portrait!

What do you all think? Is it too much art and not enough battle map? Would you prefer a strict top-down view, or do you enjoy this sort of flair? I want to hear your opinion down below!

The more i look at this the more i love it tbh. I think it was a great experiment and id love to see a full brightly lit cave system done like this. I think the line between what is and is not traversable is very clear. My players just have a tendsncy to run away from things 😄 so having a full cave of obstacles and stuff would be even more helpful for ensuring the map gets well utilized haha

I really like the rounded floors aesthetic. True, the two islands might look like they could be climbed, but that's easy enough for the GM to disallow. And your maps are still far clearer to grasp intuitively than almost all others in the business. By all means, keep experimenting.

Something like my Hound Class Transport Ship? I do want to make more, but usually wait for solid inspiration.
I highly recommend Miska Fredman for sci-fi maps. I've supported him myself for quite some time now!

Indeed, you can turn the grid off in the PDFs, and the JPG has no grid. ;)

I hear you about the unclear walls! My solution was to cut the grid off where they get too steep, so that everyone at the table can see with relative ease what is traversible.

Hi, you have great maps! Very cool style. Tell me, will there be such maps as "Ship transport ship" with a bias towards fiction? Fantasy is good, but there are no maps for space role-playing games.

I really like the colours and painting on both caves! I prefer top-down, but I can definitely see why it wouldn't make sense in this case. It really does look like a tubular tunnel!
I think I like more detailed line work, or at least more defined walls. The other caves have very clear outlines dividing "inside the cave" and "dark grey underground background", even when they have weird shapes like the jagged cave. On this one, I really want to climb onto the top of that island, but that would suddenly turn this into a very strange trench or half tube lol.
I feel like round caverns are just a hard challenge in general, and you've handled it fantastically!

Both are looking good, for different porposes. I love both, but I prefer the eerie one.

I really like the style of this. Portrait view is definitely the way to go with this.

This looks very cave like and the colors are great! Experimentation is how you grow and innovate as an artist, so im totally here for you trying new things!

Putting smiles on faces means a lot to me, so I'm very happy to hear that!

Wow! I love taking a break to look over your maps when I get the update. No matter what I'm doing, or how things are going, these maps put a smile on my face. I can't wait to use these.
