Hero Tokens

Fun experiment, or the start of a new series? I would love to hear your opinion.

Till now I have only drawn tokens of furniture, trees, and other objects, but many people have requested hero tokens. So, this is my take on some hand-drawn heroes!

It is not a comprehensive collection, rather it is an experimentation in posing and perspective, with only a little thought paid to representing the races and classes. My goal was also to keep them vague enough that everyone could theoretically find one for their personal character. So, gender is not always obvious, nor race or class.

If you like these I would be happy to make many more, and get a lot more comprehensive in doing so! So, would you like to see some top-down tokens once a month? They sure are fun to make!

Thanks to you, these are released under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.

There will be more soon enough, they're a lot of fun to draw!

I just got back from out of town and realized that character tokens were a thing. I love your art style and this makes me so happy. Please make more!

evilhomer10

Some more detail (So that we can easily distinguish different humanoid creatures) would be amazing! like a Dragonborn and an elf having different distinct features.

Jong Hoon LEE

I have something in the works that I'm sure you will love.

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

I would definitely be alright with getting more tokens of both monster and man.

Creatures are on the to-do list! (Sleep is not)

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

These are great. Would love to see it eventually branch into creatures, etc. (Though keep the maps coming, too - you don't need to sleep, right?)

It may soon be very possible! ;)

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

I would consider shifting my entire VTT tokens to these if I had the option.

Something like that is in the works Tony, so I'm glad you're excited for it!

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

Oops, wasn't done. My only issue is I'm super invested in the "style" aI already purchased. If you were to have a deal where you were creating all the creatures from the monsters manual, and all the race/class variations then I'd be interested. As a software guy I think if you made the base items as SVG's and had access to an on-line tool that would let you swap out parts... weapons, colors, etc... this could be an INCREDIBLE option.

We play on a VTT. I spent an insane amount of money on some pretty detailed tokens. The problem is those detailed tokens' details aren't that visible unless you're super zoomed in. I like that these are easily distinguishable while zoomed out.

I love it :)

They are cute like the environments, but I prefer playing with small figures. But they are cute :D Small carved wooden figures, painted or not, would be wonderful with your scenes Or maybe character tokens that stand up, with a small cardboard/wood/plastic support, so you can express your original art.

I think these would work great for physical tabletop. I could also see these reworked as Dead tokens, or a version of Dead monster tokens for keeping track of where all the bodies are on the maps... Great work as always!

Ryan M

Cool stuff as always. : ) I would be interested in portrait token, especially for NPCs, that's what gets player going. Generic citizen token would be nice.

Maxime Durocher

These look awesome, keeping them ambiguous seems right, and they work really well with the maps. Great work man.

The Printed Horde

I don't use VTT as often as tabletop, but these tokens are excellent. Having some good ones to chose from when I do need some is always nice. I wouldn't mind a set of these every so often.

John Buczek

I hear you, and there will be plenty more maps and environment tokens. :)

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

There will be plenty of physical stuff to come! I plan on keeping a healthy ratio of VTT/physical. :)

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

These look great, but personally I'll get zero use out of them, because I don't use this style of token for VTT. I'm not interested in more and would prefer to see more maps and map tokens.

Jason Eley

I like these for VTT, but prefer content for my physical tabletop game. Great work as always :)

Soren Santos

Keep them coming!

Dee Kay

These are great, I'd love to see more tokens for VTT usage ❤️

Harry Mills

While I know some use your work for physical table top, this is amazing for me personally as we just started a roll20 campaign! This is a great thing for my players to use, but now I just need to find some monsters!

They are so gosh-darned cute. I already imagine them as super-deformed figures!

Ben

Very cool. I'd love to see some modern/cyberpunk/shadowrun hero options, too!

Shon C. Love

A bestiary would be amazing! Your maps are wonderful of course, but my group runs into the problem of never knowing exactly where characters are on the maps, so this is super helpful!

Arthur_Of_Camelot

The main campaign I run transitioned from in-person to online, so these are an awesome resource. I don't pay for roll20 premium content at the moment.

Finnen Cerises

VTT - they were intended for Roll20 and similar digital applications.

Jason N.

I know they are intended as VTT tokens but I think these are a great option for print as well. Helps players (especially newer players) visualize combat without great expense. Plus they fit your maps well, stylistically.

Jason N.

These are great!

KillMeForPrizes

very cool! I'd also recommend releasing uncolored versions for people to easily color themselves.

nickythegreek

Really great job again. I have yet to see anything you make that is not a great help for running a D&D game. Home-run again!

Personally I'm not a fan of top-down tokens, because they always have to be flat against the surface of the table, which removes the only real dimension the game has. Plus they lose a lot of cool details and, at least to me, look more than a bit silly. Then again, they have their fans and I can see the advantages in having a good collection of generic tokens, top-down or otherwise. As for me, these are unfortunately a hard skip.

Vartiainen

Duuuuuuude. Yes! Super cool! Finally, tokens that match your art style!? Sweet! I'm going to print these off, adhere them to some cheap poker chips from Walmart, and have some nice and easy character coins!

Matthew Shaker

What a great idea! this definitely has to become part of your monthly work! I wish we had a full bestiary and lots of hero catalogues!

These are awesome! They strike the perfect balance of cartoon-ish and epic, LOVE them!

Haha, I made that one based on a bugbear PC my friend plays. Basically Chewie with a skull-flail and an Australian accent. ;)

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

Love the idea! I can think of a dozen situations where these come in handy.

Dedalus Root

Amazing! I'm using the halflingish roguish one. I'm really wondering who the token 26 represents. I mean no harm, but I can only think about chewie.

Arthur de Sousa Marques

Thanks Michael! Also, I forgot to mention that there are bordered and un-bordered versions, for those of you who don't like the sticker look in the previews. ;)

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

This is amazing! I will use them in my D&D introductory adventures and maybe for the next convention where I GM. Really looking forward to more like this!
