The Dwarven Hermitage

At long last, this month's first map is here! This is the Dwarven Hermitage, my experiment in a heavier style of line art.

Whereas my Oasis map was an experiment in color, this is an experiment in lines. It's rather inspired by Darkest Dungeon, and the monochromatic images in older D&D editions. Let me know what you think!

Thanks to you all, this map is released under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license

My technique is to use the same fairly large painterly brush to both paint and erase, and to use the eraser liberally to refine and create interesting shapes in the shadows. Always try and look to create interesting shapes, rather than technically correct lighting. I'm still learning, myself!

Awesome! I can imagine see so many uses!

I like the Brushes you're using for colorizing your pieces. Any hints how you do that?

Great map can't wait to use it soon.

Dee Kay

I'm a massive fan of old school D&D art style, this is perfect for my table :D Please do more stuff like this!

Paul Kingtiger

It's awesome! Hope you're having a blast in Japan!

Ben

I really need a reason to use this in my campaign now.

Finnen Cerises

It's very time consuming, but it does lend itself well to certain maps!

Looks fantastic! Will be using it in my next session, would love to see more in this style.
