Tiny Skull Jars!

Hey there, my favourite people!

Do you need tiny tiny jars in your life?  Tiny jars with skulls on them, and with tiny screw-in stopper lids?  Of course you do!  There aren't really many things you could fit in these tiny, tiny jars, but probably things like eye of newt.  Not all that many eyes, though.

Despite their size, these little vessels are intended for FDM printing, and just enough detail to be manageable with a standard nozzle and some thinner layer lines.  My test prints here were printed with 0.1mm layers.

Printing Tips

This is a tiny model, and you'll probably want to use fairly thin layer lines to bring out what little detail a standard nozzle can manage!  As mentioned above, I used 0.1mm for these test prints.

The lid has a reasonably generous tolerance, but can be resized a little (or the perimeter expanded/contracted in your slicer if you're so inclined) for a tighter or looser fit.  It's such a tiny model that it's easy to experiment with settings to find what works for your setup :)

The lid and jar print right-way-up, like so:

Print Dimensions

The jar occupies about 18mm x 18mm on the bed, and is 17mm tall.

The lid occupies 14mm x 14mm and is 9mm tall.

Further Thoughts

I did originally have "eye of newt" written in little archaic letters on the side of these, but that was unsurprisingly unsuccessful when it came to slicing, let alone printing, hence the inclusion of the little skull instead.  I like the skull better anyway!

Comments

sometimes the best prints are the tiny prints!

Superb, can't stop printing these :)

Cuteness overload, I will print an army of these.

Cathy O'Malley

These are perfect for my daughters Halloween Barbie setup! (Halloween is a pretty big deal in our house!)

I'll leave them printing but they don't look great on the print bed so far. Might have to look at levelling again :-)

Robin Edwards

I plan on scaling this up a bit and use as salt and pepper cellars using white and black marbled filament for the jars and wood filament for the corks. Maybe even stain the corks. Thanks for the cool design!

David Martinez

Awesome! I was too fixated on matte filaments and didn't even consider the shiny end of the spectrum :D

Clockspring3D

That's such a cool idea!

Isn't PolyTerra great? You probably already noticed that mine were PolyTerra (well, not the lids, but I'm excited for the Peanut colour that's on the way!)

Clockspring3D

Hmm.... this could be a fun flex with the shiny silk copper I have, to see if it will come out ok in finer detail. :)

Setral

I'm in love with polyterra right now, so probably cotton candy, teal, purple, yellow and lava red, then some purple and silver glitters! I've been printing teeth and this would make a cool addition to a tooth fairy project im working on!

These will make excellent board game counters, but I’ll make try a bit bigger, as well.

Haha, yay! But in which colours?!

Clockspring3D

These are amazing! I need to print so many of them 🀩🀣 thank you!
