Breezy Pi Case Update: Hex and Pi3B Versions

Howdy, always-wonderful people!

By popular demand, here's a version of the Pi4B with a hexagonal pattern!  And, by popular demand, I mean someone suggested it and hexagons are the best, so there you go.  Note that there's no camera cable slot in the hex version - best to stick with the regular Breezy case if you need that feature!

By actual popular demand, though, both versions of the Breezy case now also have a Pi3B (and compatible boards) model!

The Pi3B versions of the two cases differ only in the ports exposed - the side rings, the fan caddy and the grille part on top are all exactly the same as the Pi4B versions.

Oh, and this is probably obvious, but the grilles only differ in the shape of the cutouts, so you can mix and match the grilles with the cases.

Printing Tips

As per the original Breezy Pi4B case, these print with the case hinged open, the grille and caddy print flat-side down, and the rings can be either way up, as shown below:

Take care that your bottom layer is nice and neat, since that will be the outside of the case!  And as always with hinged designs, watch out for such things as stringing that might bind parts and get in the way of their movement.

File Locations

The three new folders on dropbox are:

817 Pi4B Hex Breezy Case

816 Pi3B Breezy Case

815 Pi3B Hex Breezy Case

Hopefully the names are self-explanatory, but if not please let me know :)

Final Thoughts

These sorts of designs are never finished!  While I don't have any specific new versions underway, I can't help but think a camera mount would be a nice addition... and maybe some sensor mounts... and some LEDs... :P

Have fun!

xoxo

Sven.

Breezy Pi Case Update: Hex and Pi3B Versions

Comments

Hopefully I understood the question properly! I just went and found mine, and the fan caddy extends just slightly lower than the top of the highest component on the board, so yes, there should be quite a bit more than 5mm clearance. Does that answer the question? :)

Clockspring3D

Hi Sven! I already have a Pi4B but I have already sticked the XL Heatsink which is 5mm tall. However, it is summer now and it seems that it is not enough. Is there a chance that the Breezy Hex case (which I really like!) has a 5mm clearance, between fan and board? Thanks!

30*30*10mm. What size is the one you have at the moment?

Clockspring3D

So what size fan was this designed for? The ones I have don't fit

I do have a prototype for an enclosure for the 7 inch touchscreen actually - still needs a lot of work though...

Clockspring3D

I might see if I can get something with the 7 inch touchscreen to work with this. That's the setup I have. I use mine as a retropi and just browser

Hey thanks! I'll give it a try and report back.

As long as it's 10mm thick there should be plenty of room in there - the question will be the caddy! So, I just hacked a 40.5mm square out of the caddy and increased the lower hole diameter a little. That meant that the indented side of the caddy had to go, so it's only left with three, but that shouldn't be a big issue. The real question will be whether it's too fragile now. So, I've put the STL in the "818 Pi4 Breezy Case" folder, and it's called "Experiment - 40mm Fan Caddy". Give it a try and see how it goes! If it still works with such a simple change, then hooray! If not, 40mm fan support can go on the To Do List :)

Clockspring3D

Is there any way to make a 40mm fan version that would work with the Noctua 40mm fans?
