Hearts and hinges! And a Fusion 360 video!

3D printers bring love every day of the year, not just on Valentine's Day, but it was good inspiration for a tutorial project!  After recording that video on hinge design in Tinkercad I had a couple of requests to do the same thing in Fusion 360, and so here we are!

YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l8lXlpvcQ0

The video is about half taken up with creating the box shape, and half with building the hinges, and it's about half an hour in total.

Of course, if all you want is to print the box, Creative Printer supporters will find it in Dropbox under "YouTube Hinged Heart Box" :)

Enjoy!  And give your printer a hug this Valentine's Day :)

Thanks!

Thats awesome! I can relate to missing overlapping bits - it's the most likely thing to go wrong with that kind of design 😁. The Section Analysis tool in fusion can be useful for spotting such things, and for just looking to see if things get too close at any point. Just click Inspect -> Section Analysis, then click on a convenient plane (top or bottom usually) and then drag the resulting handle to see a slice through the design. Super cool!

I've been wanting to learn F360 for a couple years and having a "project" like this was good incentive. I ended up backing up in your video a zillion times, redoing things a handful of times, but finally got it, printed it, and other than one little missed overlap (fixed by xacto) it worked perfectly and looks great. I know it wasn't meant as a f360 tutorial, but thanks for doing that.

Great stuff. I will definitely be printing one of these for Nadia.
