The inhabitants of Barsoom in Edgar Rice Burroughs' novels (and current Dejah Thoris comics) have reddish skin. It's something I've hesitated a lot to replicate or not... first because changing your skin tone to "natural" tones just for cosplay can be very inappropriate and of course controversial, but being Barsoonians a Martian fantasy/alien race I don't see how it could be inconsiderate towards any real culture (not any different than painting yourself blue to cosplay an Andorian)... And 2ndly because I didn't want to make a red bodypaint with a very covering paint or I could look like a cheap demon bodypaint... So in the end I decided to just do a little test with powdered pigments that are used to give colour to homemade cosmetics and soaps. With this natural pigment I brushed my body to make a soft red layer that blends with my skin tone, not covering it. And I liked the result so finally I went that route. My bathroom has a very yellowish light, so don't pay attention to the high tone you can see in the first making-of pictures, the final effect is just a little more pink-red natural Barsoonian skin XD

Al the cosplay ismade by me and will have 3 versions, from more armour to less armour... but you'll see that in the final pictures ;)
