I disagree. The need for the obvious "bad boy" is so eye-rolling and makes me dislike Portia, and I think it's definitely going to bite her in the ass.

I would have an issue if he was watching porn we KNEW wasn't made with actresses being treated fairly and like human beings while on set. As far as Albie goes, they have zero chemistry and we see no real indications that she is attracted to him. He is mostly the one engaging with her, and she seems to be responding mostly out of loneliness. And his attempts at being romantic just seem to make her feel awkward. Conversely, we can see that she is attracted to Jack literally the second she lays eyes on him. And when they meet, their chemistry is off the charts and they’re flirting straight away. I don’t remember how things end up, but at least up thru now, I like that the show isn’t really being critical of Portia for her choices and being true to her feelings. Too often women are shown in a bad light when they let themselves act on their attraction, and shown as virtuous for getting with the “nice guy” that they have no attraction to. Also, most other media would chastise her for having had a few very lightly romantic interactions with Albie, but still feeling free to pursue her attraction to Jack. But the reality is, Albie is still just a guy she barely knows who she met on vacation, and who she’s not really clicking with romantically. At this stage, she’s definitely still a free agent. Now, the show may punish her in the next two episodes for all of this after all lol, idk, like I said, I don’t remember what happens. I really hope they don’t, but at least for now, I appreciate the messaging.

And I don't think the dad wants to change. if he did, he wouldn't have bought escorts the very first night they got there! Portia going for the bad boy instead of Albie is going to bite her in the ass. Also, I think there's more to Greg (Craig?)- I don't think he left because he had a "dick appointment" (lol). Why did he care so much whether Portia was there or not? I swear to God, he's connected to Tanya meeting those gay dudes. He left and they immediately show up? He kept mentioning the pre-nup... those dudes are way too flattering and way too insistent. But maybe I'm just paranoid lmao, or they're a red herring to what's really going to happen.

Bare bones (without the commentary on wealth/class and the different themes of each season), this series is really so well written that it makes you interested as hell in their interactions. It’s like an anthropological study, and I feel like that’s one of your many talents with reacting (reading people, finding their little quirks, seeing the underlying things going on, etc). Also really glad you’re as mad at Ethan as I was when watching this. “I don’t lie to my wife” the night before, then acting like she’s crazy. My entire trip would be ruined if I were Harper because finding that condom, even though it’s Cameron’s, then Ethan’s continued deflecting/lying just makes it worse. Like dude just say a girl tried to kiss you and you turned her down, and Cameron had sex in your hotel room. Come ON.

An experienced reader will be able to make an insightful reading based upon the cards. Thinking it is just supposed to make you feel better is WILD.

Harper gave him an opening right away by saying that she KNOWS Cameron cheats, and instead of telling her he made her look like a bitch for talking shit about Daphne. He knows Harper's been right about everything but still cares more about what they think. Harper's been dragged on this vacation with this idiot couple and Daphne makes her stay overnight somewhere so she can play games with her idiot husband?? I would be SO mad. And she's obviously comforting herself by comparing her own marriage to Daphne and Cameron which is also sad because she's clearly frustrated and knows her and Ethan have their own problems. Ethan had the perfect opportunity to be like I'm so sorry you're right blablabla. I feel like he definitely feels guilty because he did kiss Mia but he could be justifying not saying anything as being loyal to his idiot friend and not outing him. And I feel like Daphne is way smarter than she lets on. I think she knows what Cameron is doing (not just the one time she told Harper about) but she does it too and that's what she means by "I'm not a victim". Also I agree with the Jack/Portia stuff, like, he does come off obnoxious (to me at least) but not creepy. And it's what she's wanted the whole time so good for her. And I found it interesting how the two characters who talked badly about female friendships are Daphne and Tanya, who are, compared to other women on the show, the most out of touch, privileged two. I don't mind the pausing and commenting because there truly is something to be said about nearly every scene. Sorry for the essay of a comment.
