unrelated, but another movie that has a similar story themes when it comes to art and artists is tick tick boom directed by lin manuel miranda (the writer of hamilton) and its soo good. i would recommend giving it a watch even if it’s on your own time

It’s funny I’ve seen this movie a few times but I liked it a lot more now watching it along with you. Also really cool to hear you’re painting again, I didn’t realize you had stopped. Glad you’re back at it ❤️ Also I never heard anyone say Emma is bad in this movie so whoever that was is drunk and should go home 😂

2025-09-20 19:45:07 +0000 UTCSaw this in the cinema when it first came out, love the use of color this has, reminds me very much of tecnicolor film 🎨 and love the idea of “destiny helpers”, it reminds me of the saying “we are a mosaic of everyone we've ever loved” whether that is romantic or platonic we are shaped by the people we meet in life And since you mentioned your art Frank I just wanted to say I look at your Wodi portrait every video I watch, it’s so captivating! When I’m in a better financial situation someday, then I very much plan to buy a print of it ☺️

2025-09-20 18:21:11 +0000 UTCI’ve always wanted to be a writer since I was 8 and I remember my parents telling me I needed to get ‘a real job’ before I even tried that bc it was just ‘not realistic’. I continued writing anyway but at some point i stopped taking it seriously because I started to believe what everyone was telling me. I got into university, graduated my bachelors and now that I’m done with that I don’t have a job and havent been able to finish writing not ONE of the books I started writing thru the years. And I’m like damn, if all that effort I put into my bachelor’s was directed to writing which I consider to be my passion… who knows where I’d be now. Grown ups really do tend to bring you down when you’re a kid. But it’s fine, I recently started writing again and taking it seriously like it always deserved to be treated and you talking about how you stopped painting too for a while just made me tear up a little like oh wow, we really all go thru that phase huh. I’m so happy you’re painting again. Your art deserves to be out there. Everyone’s art does. This movie is so good at reminding us just hard it is to get where you wanna be and just how close it might be without you realizing it. Mia almost missed the opportunity of her life because she was afraid of trying anymore, she lost confidence which is fair, but imagine if she hadnt gone to that audition. It’s like that one diamond mining meme lmao.

That first song where everyone got out of the car and started singing about how even if they got let down and they didnt get what they wanted there’s always another day of sun to keep fighting for it. It REALLY helps lift your spirits when you’re having a bad day. Love it so much.

She was well respected and a wonderful role model.
