135ish I am Native American and have grandparents who remember being forced into catholic school. They weren't allowed to speak their own language and were hit if they did. They did a census pre covid for how many ppl on the rez, and of that specific tribe within it, could speak sahaptin. It was 15. Then the pandemic hit and really took a lot of tribal members. Who even knows how many are left. I know a couple of words but I've always gotten them confused with Spanish because my mom used a few words of both when we were kids. I for sure cannot spell them. That's just one area. Ethnic cleansing is for sure a worldwide issue. It sucks. Also I am loving your reaction of this, you didn't stop a whole lot. Just shows how much you are invested. It is a delight.

whenever people say "victim blame" they try to erase accountability. Everything you said is true AND unless people are allowed to take accountability for their actions, they will continue to be victims to predators. It's also a huge assumption to make that people are singular minded and if they talk about accountability, they can't be empathetic. Also, the caption said "Scott" when he was first talking, idk why they changed it to "Homer"

Oh man I remember when this came out back in the day, I absolutely loved the first season and then it took so long for the second to even come out just for it to then get cancelled D: It's truly sad that Netflix just keeps getting away with putting out 2 or maybe even just one 1 season of a show and then just get cancelling it, because they now it's most profitable for them like this. Sucks to see it happen to so many innovative shows with great ideas and often also great representation.

I’m soooooo happy you are reacting to this! Brit Marling is so special, I love all of her work that she writes, directs and acts in. Her writing is incredible. There’s so many things I notice on the second viewing, the show is blowing me away in a different capacity than the first time watching it now that I see more. I like what you said at the end about people how many people are in a mental asylum because perhaps they see things differently - I think that’s what Prairie was saying to the teacher about us measuring our sanity based on the rules of a society that is sick itself. We’re stuck seeing from a perspective that is already “wrong”. One last thing I thought while watching this - Hap (Jason Isaacs) takes out his earplug when he hears Prairie playing her violin and immediately I thought - how nice it must be to not have to be completely on guard every time you’re out and about. As a female that doesn’t happen, not really afforded that luxury. So yes I too see Prairie as a victim, she’s young, was completely enraptured by Hap’s presence, and she let her guard down for a moment. Anyways so excited that you’re watching this - Brit Markings work is incredible and often makes me thing about our world and universe!

You’ll probably notice this when you go to edit the video but to clarify, Homer wasn’t the one who said everything was her fault. There were actually two male voices talking to her after Hap locked her up. You can hear them coming from different directions (and of course, Netflix spoils their names in the captions). One said “...and as you think about every step that led you here, you’ll eventually realize it’s no one’s fault but your own”. And then the other said “Your thoughts are going to try and take you down. Don’t let them. You’ll find your freedom in sleep. In your dreams. That’s how we stay sane.”

Woke up, saw this in the notifications on my phone, and IMMEDIATELY hit play. It's a crime that it didn't keep going for longer but it's still an incredible story and I'm pretty sure I've never seen another reactor give it a chance, so thank you. I swear, I complain every time there's another sequel or remake or reboot. My usual line is, "Doesn't anyone have any NEW ideas??!" The creators of this show had new ideas and they're phenomenal. So so so excited to watch you go down the rabbit hole on this one.

I'm going to say this before I start your reaction so I am not tempted to get into specifics. I actually rage quit Netflix when they canceled this show (it was that good and had so much potential for the 5 seasons the creators had planned out.) Haven't resubscribed to Netflix since. *though I do admit that other members of my household do have Netflix and I use it on occasion. They obviously haven't seen The OA or I imagine they would cancel as well.. LOL
