2025-09-19 18:38:28 +0000 UTCI think with what Lito said about Daniela: he likely didn't actually believe that. he said that to justify what he was doing, not only to Hernando but to himself. he knew it was wrong, but he let his fear dictate his actions. as much as I love Lito (he is probably my favorite character), I will always defend Hernando's decision. Lito needed a reality check, and Hernando gave him one. Capheus taking over in the car is one of my favorite moments in the series. the entire scene is just spectacular! 🤩

Hernando could not have responded more perfectly, and is a beautiful example of a boundary. “I don’t know what you should do, all I know what I have to do.” He’s not giving him an ultimatum or pressuring him, he’s telling him what he’s doing for himself; Lito can respond however he wants, or not at all.

2025-08-23 17:16:34 +0000 UTCi know what you mean about the sense of impending doom, frank. all the non-sensate characters are so charming— amanita, hernando and daniella, riley’s dad and capheus’s mom, even rajan is a walking green flag regardless of kala not being in love with him. i’m worried about something happening to any of them because they’re all perfect-seeming, which historically for me has been a sign that indeed the character is intended as a sacrifice. i keep having to remind myself that the watchowski’s usually lean optimistic, and that surely *all* the side characters can’t die at least. right? 😭

It's hard to take a beloved parent off the pedestal, which I imagine is especially true if they died when you were just a kid—so it's absolutely crucial for Sun to know these other incarcerated women. They can help her see that her mother *was* a wonderful person, but she also had a limited understanding of what a woman could do or be in their family, and she imposed it, unfairly, on Sun. Doesn't make her a bad person, but it does mean Sun needs more and better guiding lights. (I have a feeling her mom would agree, too!)

One of the Wachowski sisters herself, in an acceptance speech for I can't remember what honor (shortly after her transition), described her luck with her parents as "winning the lottery." So it seems intentional on her part, showcasing the existence of such parents here, with more texture and detail than just "she's not weird about queerness or transness."

2025-08-22 04:20:15 +0000 UTCYea, I seriously love all of the couples in the show. People often talk about being out, loud and proud, but being private doesn't always mean you're ashamed. Lito and Hernando demonstrate this mutual understanding in a way that I have never seen in any other show. They know they love each other and they don't need the world in their business. They know it could hurt Lito's career and they know it is a job that pays the bills, and that's not the issue, and I love that. There's no ego, Hernando doesn't take is personally because he loves and trusts Lito just as much as Lito loves and trusts him...but instead Lito's decision to not help Dani showed him that he's more of a coward than he had realized and I think that's also real because it's like, would you allow something to happen to me the same way you're doing now? and I respect that...don't even get me started on Nomi and Neets....there needs to be something more than ride or die for those two.
