Hey fam. So my dentist just told me he would have to pop out all my wisdom teeth on Thursday, so it's about to be a short week. After that, maybe 2 weeks to fully recover. I guess I'll find out soon enough😭 Just wanted to keep you all in the loop. Thank you🙏🏽🌻

2025-08-19 23:37:58 +0000 UTCI hope you heal quickly🤞🏻. Please watch the IWTV (now The Vampire Lestat) S3 teaser/trailer. Love the Schitt's Creek videos; sorry to see it end.

2025-08-13 21:32:48 +0000 UTCI just watched the show trailer, so cool to see Annie Murphy as mc!! I've been wanting to see her not just play Alexis Rose in Schitt's Creek - will check it out thanks for saying

2025-08-13 20:59:09 +0000 UTCTake good care, Frank! Lots of hot and cold liquids and plenty of rest. Wishing you a speedy recovery. The best part about having surgery for me was having a medical reason to chill out lol

2025-08-13 11:58:20 +0000 UTCTake care of yourself, and take the time to fully recover. I saw another post that we should put recommendations of stuff to watch in the pinned schedule, so I thought I'd put one down. There's a really underrated show called Kevin can f himself, it's a compelling chunk of storytelling that gets deeper the more you watch, and it's a really good one in provoking thoughtful discussions. Unfortunately, it's not the most popular show as many people haven't heard of it, so maybe it won't do so well with viewers, but even if you don't watch it on camera, I highly recommend it. Be curious to see if anyone else would want to see that as well, and I'll hold off on further recommendations in case this is not the place to put them.

2025-08-13 08:46:02 +0000 UTCBroooo you about to be so sick of soup! Be comforted that some inflammation is an important part of healing :) your balloon face is likely to peak over the weekend Only surgeries I've had are wisdom teeth. Best thing was each time the procedure was much quicker than expected! I also enjoyed how gnarly it was that I heard them crack each tooth in half to remove but couldn't feel any pain. But the best best thing is crunching carrot sticks a month later suddenly remembering you are munching carefree 🥕🐇

2025-08-13 01:41:53 +0000 UTCDemand good drugs. And if anybody tells you to rinse those open wounds with salt water, tell that person to fuck right off. That salt water rinse was the worst part of the entire wisdom-tooth removal process.

2025-08-12 22:31:08 +0000 UTCTrust me, I had awful hours at the dentist. But poppin out the wisdom teeth were really easy! No pain in the process and very little after. Just take some pain killer after if you need to. It's will be okay, I promise.😉❤

2025-08-12 20:42:33 +0000 UTCThe biggest surgery I have had is my middle child’s c-section. Best part was that it fast fast and painless compared to giving birth to the other two 😅 Have also had wisdom tooth removed, but not all at once. I think they took two and then the next two next time. Easier to eat when they only operated one side at a time. I have never been put to sleep tho. Just local anesthesia

2025-08-12 19:52:10 +0000 UTCI have had my tonsils and my appendix removed. And both of those brought a great deal of pain relief, so even though recovering from surgery is initially very uncomfortable, it's also not for very long and the benefit outweighs that cost. Definitely make sure you have enough warm or cold compresses depending on if you're swelling is quite bad, they can bring a bit of relief before you try to sleep!

2025-08-12 18:24:36 +0000 UTCIf you smoke weed make yourself a gravity bong; you won’t need to suck in like you normally would with a bong or j. Instead, it pushes the smoke into your lungs which doesn’t risk pulling out the blood clot. I had my last two removed a few months ago lol.

2025-08-12 17:35:23 +0000 UTCHad all 4 out at once, back when they admitted you into a hospital for the procedure under anesthesia and kept your overnight for observation (my how the world has changed). They kept an eye on you and made sure you did not suck with a straw (none given) or use suction in any way to avoid dry socket. I had an uneventful recovery following the advice given for proper healing. I hope all goes well for you and you have a speedy recovery.

2025-08-12 13:31:12 +0000 UTCOh damn. I've only had one wisdom tooth out but it was simple enough. Over here they just numb the area and yank/push it out. I can't imagine having 4 out at once though - it'll definitely make eating and brushing very hard for a while! Best of luck with it 🙂

2025-08-12 07:41:41 +0000 UTCI think that surgery is different over there than here (I was fully awake for all four), so I can only give you tips for afterwards: Bags of frozen peas wrapped on a towel: make 2-3 small ones on ziplocs rather than keep one big in the original packaging. If you prefer a gentler cold, freeze dry rice or dry lentils. Make batches of pureed food! I took a while to dare to chew, to be honest. I made gazpachos and chicken-veggie pureed soup. Something filling, not just smoothies. Oh! And scrambled eggs are soft enough and very nutritionally dense! I don't know how it goes over there, but the operation itself was really easy and painless. It looks quite spectacular, though, because in my case they had to break the tooth inside, they used pliers and saws and everything, and the doctor had to push to get it out... And meanwhile I was perfectly fine and didn't even notice any pain or anything because the anesthesia works! It's a marvel that we have such advances. So good luck!! See you back here when all that wisdom finally stops bothering you!

2025-08-12 07:32:06 +0000 UTCThey had a heck of a time getting my son's wisdom teeth out. Lots of swelling afterwards. Use the ice and lots of salt water rinsing to heal as soon as possible. Take care of you, Frank. ❤️

2025-08-12 05:10:24 +0000 UTCDental insurance in this nation is a joke, considering that if you don't get those things out, you will get an actual infection that can lead to medical complications that can even include death. But for profit insurance companies don't give a fuck about us.

2025-08-12 02:30:18 +0000 UTCI woke up a little halfway through one of my carpal tunnel repair surgeries, long enough to hear them discussing how my nerve was pushed entirely flat, no wonder my fingers were constantly numb and my grip was bad.
Eboe Thrasher
2025-08-12 02:28:41 +0000 UTCI've had a few. Tubes in my ears to help me with my hearing before I was 5. Tonsils out before 5 too. So much dental work, it isn't even funny. I don't even have teeth anymore at 53. I had a bunion repair in 2012, and a subsequent hardware removal surgery in 2014 and then a year later lost that same big toe due to a post-op infection. I also had bi-lateral carpal tunnel surgery in the mid 2000s. So, a bit haha.

2025-08-12 02:26:37 +0000 UTCI was terrified to get my wisdom teeth out BUT it literally felt like a second had passed. It didn’t feel like dreaming, just blinked and it was over. The worst part was tasting the blood afterwards, then you can have the soft foods & sleep for a while. Good luck!

2025-08-12 02:09:28 +0000 UTCMiraculously, I’ve not had surgery (yet) so my good news for you would be that you have a sizable community here willing to take the brunt of any venting you might need. You probably won’t struggle too much with being forced to slow down and rest, since you seem to understand and appreciate the value of self-care. Also, from what I’ve heard, as long as you follow the doctor's recovery instructions the pain and discomfort shouldn’t be too bad.

2025-08-12 01:53:51 +0000 UTCWisdom teeth suggestion to help—don’t suck anything through a straw. Eat all of your cold food with a spoon because the sucking motion can cause dry socket, which is when air gets into the wounds and stops the clots from forming, exposing nerve endings. it is painful, so be careful to change your gauze often, don’t suck anything, and keep them clean!

2025-08-12 01:47:52 +0000 UTCI’ve had my impacted wisdom teeth taken out! It was super easy. They just numbed my gums and took two while I was awake but numb, which significantly speeds up recovery and reduces pain—most dental work after pain comes from the dentist forcing your jaw open and into different positions. When you’re awake but numb, you can do all of the moving yourself which puts way less strain on your muscles. It wasn’t bad at all. I had them removed on a Monday afternoon and was back to work by Thursday. I also had brain surgery once (had a cyst growing behind one of my ears. It was gnarly). Way worse than the wisdom teeth tbh lolll

2025-08-12 01:42:12 +0000 UTCOh nooo! So sorry that you had such unfun news sprung on you suddenly! But don't worry, wisdom teeth removal is a very run-of-the-mill thing that happens everyday, so the good news is, there's no need to be concerned about the procedure itself. I never had mine out, so i can't speak from experience, but I've known people who did. Based on what I observed, those first few days will be the toughest for recovery. BUT based on a ton of funny videos on the internet, apparently whatever drugs they use to knock you out with are STRONG! You should have a bit of weird fun for a little while after! 🤣🤣 (Low key want you to ask Val to record you right after you've woken up for us, but I wouldn't do that to ya 😂🤗) Me personally, even though I never had my wisdom teeth out, I've had quite a few other surgeries, including a different oral surgery when I was 10. The rest were due to various injuries, exploratory needed, and a few internal bits either removed or fixed that weren't working right. Oh, and right after childbirth, can't forget that! Now, I was born with a disorder that often causes my body to have a hard time healing. I bleed a lot and easily, scars and bones take longer to mend and sometimes don't properly, things like that. And so, HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU: Out of all my surgeries, that complication connected to my disorder is honestly the only thing that's ever been a problem for me! Otherwise, all other aspects of the procedures have totally gone fine. And whenever my body responded well and didn't give me a hard time healing, then everything totally went well! The hospitals and medical professionals were all great - very kind, caring, professional and did their jobs well. I didn't have to worry about anything myself, the process for everything went smoothly like clockwork. Sure, there's the recovery period after. But you just get plenty of rest, follow all post-op instructions, take whatever pain relievers they give you, and it'll fly by in no time. And if I had to say a BEST PART about surgery? Just all the nice rest and deep sleep you get from the drugs lol! So that's my biggest advice: Don't fight the healing process. I've known people who don't want to take the recovery pills that doctors prescribe. Or who try to push themselves too much and too soon afterwards. DO NOT be that guy! Just go with the flow, let your loved ones pamper you for a week or two, and rest, rest, rest. And be kind to yourself! Recovery sometimes can be a little emo for us lol. Let yourself feel whatever you need to feel and remember, this shall pass! 💐😴🩵

2025-08-12 01:32:44 +0000 UTCI have unfortunately been under the knife so many times, including for wisdom teeth. Here's some ups AND some downs to consider. Pro: I've never had a single complication with anesthesia except occasionally some nausea immediately after waking up. Laughing gas has been a genuine riot every time. (I once sang "Suddenly Seymour" start to finish for the room, and they didn't love it! But I did.) It's unlikely you'll be in the minority that has a reaction to whatever it is. Con: The painkillers for recovery can't wipe out all the discomfort. Sometimes it's just Tylenol and a bag of frozen peas and sadness. Pro: A little bit of special gummy action helps me out a lot with pain management AND helps motivate me to eat all those soft, no-chewing-needed treats you should be getting for yourself beforehand. (I'll note that there's plenty of medical advice against TCH/CBD for pain management, but I'll also note that I don't personally pay it any mind and am a-ok.) Con: All the things you can't eat/drink (or use to do so, like straws) Pro: Getting to act a little like a sick kid while someone takes care of you (if you're lucky) In terms of speeding recovery, icing that shit as much as they tell you to truly is important. Hopefully there's no follow-up component (like stitch removal—tho they mostly just dissolve these days anyhow), but if there is, finally being free of surgery ephemera is SUCH a relief every time. (I've had stents they had to retrieve from inside me while I was still awake! Bags and tubes they yanked out of my body while I was still awake! Consider yourself so blessed that the mess stops at yr swollen gums lol)

2025-08-12 01:17:16 +0000 UTCI don't think I was in a surgery for that specific thing, but when I was like... four? i became infected with tuberculosis bacillus, which fucked up my body for the rest of my life, but also completely deprived me of any fear of hospitals and doctors 😂 Actual surgery I had was when I went to remove a mole from my armpit and it was the funniest experience I've ever had with doctors 😂 They covered my upper body with a blue medical cloth thingy so I wouldn't distract them, put anaesthesia in my arm and I was conscious the whole time, which was fun too lmao. But the absolute best part is that it was right after Adele's "Hello" came out and everyone were obsessed with it. The operation room had a radio which blasted "Hello" during most of the process. So imagine me lying on an operating table, looking up at the light dancing through the threads of the cloth on my head and nurses and doctors were swinging to the "Hello" and freaking singing along 😂 I was dying laughing. Somehow, they even managed to finish the operation and all was good lmao. Wishing you best of luck with your surgery and a speedy recovery after 🥺🌻

2025-08-12 01:00:55 +0000 UTCI woke up during my wisdom teeth surgery and tried to leave, they had to sedate me again. On the bright side I didn't like the painkillers they gave me and was fine without them, and no bruising or anything.

2025-08-12 00:49:37 +0000 UTCI got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out in 2019 when I was 21. Worst part was the cost. They told me i needed them out bc they got infected and I cried in the damn chair bc it was like $1,500 WITH my insurance. Best part was being put to sleep honestly. I was always scared of sedation but when I woke up I asked them if i could go back to sleep. My then-boyfriend drove me there and back but then he had to go to work so I cried harder bc I lived with my family but they aren't caring or nurturing people and whenever you're sick they dont take care of you they are just kind of annoyed that you ask them for any type of assistance. So I just took care of myself. I almost forgot, I did get nerve damage in my jaw that left the bottom half of my face numb for a few months then suddenly it went away! Just be sure to clean your mouth well and dont eat solid foods too soon, because I did that and then my gums got infected and that sucked! I dont remember much phsyical pain, I was given ibuprofen and hydrocodone but the hydrocodone gave me CRAZY dreams so I didn't even take it all.. overall emotional suffering was like 7/10 but physical suffering was like 3/10?

2025-08-12 00:48:05 +0000 UTCI had all 4 of my wisom teeth removed in my early 20's. I was really nervous, but it was actually a pretty good experience. The mouth heals quickly, mine felt pretty much normal after a couple days.

2025-08-12 00:34:45 +0000 UTCHad the 3 wisdom teeth i had removed about 15 years ago. Wasn't fun obviously, but less intense than I thought! So stock up on... mushy... food tho haha! Apple sauce, tomato soup, the likes. Was an excellent excuse to eat all the tapioca pudding i wanted lol! Thankfully after a few days I was fine ;) Ça va aller, courage! :)

2025-08-12 00:29:19 +0000 UTCI actually still have my wisdom teeth but I had to have the “wisdom teeth surgery” on other molars that were impacted when I was in my teens. The only surgery I ever had. As a perpetually busy person even back then, it was nice to have a literal doctor’s excuse to slow down and do nothing while I recovered - I hope you get to relax during recovery without too much grown up stuff rearing its head!

2025-08-12 00:28:31 +0000 UTCI've had all 4 wisdom teeth removed and it was not as big of a deal as I'd anticipated. Take your time resting and recouping 🌱

2025-08-12 00:28:21 +0000 UTCI've had three surgeries. First when I broke my arm, second to shove the rod that they put in my arm when I broke up back in, it had started to drift. The third and last time was to take the rod out and replace it with a plate and pins. Didn't have surgery first 30 years of my life then in one year I have 3. No real best part except I got a few weeks off work. Thankfully I couldn't really call out at my job because no one was trained in my spot so I had lots of sick leave and PTO that I could take and they finally trained someone for my spot.

2025-08-12 00:26:18 +0000 UTCI had all four wisdom teeth out at once in my late 20s and it was honestly much easier than I was afraid it would be. I stuck to a lot of juices & well-blended smoothies (no straws!!!), brothy soups, and mashed potatoes for the first few days. I had ice packs on rotation — 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off, so I'd just switch sides. I had almost zero bruising and the pain was manageable with Tylenol. I hope yours is just as quick and easy! I've had a few surgeries and the best part (if there is one) is the forced rest time. Put your feet up, read that book you've been neglecting, play your favorite video game, take tons of naps. Let your body recover!

2025-08-12 00:26:15 +0000 UTCAwww, I'll keep you in my thoughts. I don't recall wisdom teeth removal being too bad when I had it done. I had a pilonidol cyst in my tailbone area that had to be surgically removed. It was the size of a baseball!! What was good about it? Lots of good meds, love from mom who took care of me, and no more pain!
