When Ewan loses it on the phone I'm lost. It never fails to make me cry, 100% success rate every single watch. The children's acting is so good for people so little. Tom is great, as expected, but little Thomas shines so much. Fantastic reaction, and it's quite interesting to hear your memories and thoughts on things that comes to mind when you watch. :)

2025-06-15 15:03:28 +0000 UTCSo in most industry especially Hollywood they do market testing to determine audience attitude and opinions and due to racism it has been determined that most white audiences have a hard time empathizing or sympathizing with a character when they aren't white, so the studio probably said they all have to be white people sk that the movie will actually be watched by people. This obviously sucks but it is a mich deeper issue that is nearly impossible to solve since racism is a millenia long issue that is ingrained in society's DNA

Emotionally, healing became a different story. With nightmares plaguing the family of what each one saw, it took six months for them to be able to go to sleep without keeping the lights on. The true healing occurred when Belón became a consultant for the disaster film and went back with her family to the scene of the event in Thailand. There, they grieved for all the lives lost and finally gained closure for what happened on the fateful day. "We had to go back with different feelings than how we left,” “We left feeling pain, shock. We needed to go back to that land, that place and say sorry for the moment we spent together. ”Belón is still a practicing physician. Her main focus though is to be a motivational speaker, traveling around the world and telling her story at various conferences. She also goes to a beach every year with her family on December 26th, commemorating the experience and to mourn those who died in the tragedy. But her biggest takeaway is how lucky she feels to be alive. “My scars will be with me forever," she told People in 2013. "My whole story is on my body. And it is wonderful because it means I am alive.”

2025-06-15 11:24:54 +0000 UTCI went to check because I was curious, and found some news on them from 2020: - Lucas was a doctor in London fighting Coronavirus - María was raising money for charities - Quique, the dad, was helping Syrian refugees that were trying to cross the sea in raft boats - Tomás was studying International Relations with the goal of 'changing the world, because the world doesn't change itself'. - Simón was still deciding what to study in college (I guess by now he's finishing whatever he chose, but I couldn't find anything else).

A truly harrowing story about a terrible and devastating natural disaster. (Fun fact! If you didn't already know, the director if this film is the same director of Society of the Snow! Clearly he has an intersst and telling these true stories as accurately as possible)
