If you haven't seen "The Wild Robot" please do yourself a favor and go watch this movie! This movie is literally perfect! It had everything, no notes! Make sure you have some tissues 🥲 Go in blink if you can. In my opinion, Movie trailers give way too much away these days.

I'm gonna be honest here, I think it's possible you might be reading a little too far into this? I would understand this perspective if they had like. Used AI art in the film or something, but like... they didn't? I'm not saying you're not entitled to your feelings about this film, as art is meant to bring out all kinds of feelings in people, but this sort of seems like a reach, I'm not gonna lie. Robots have been used as stand-ins for human emotion in sci-fi and speculative fiction for centuries, this film really isn't presenting anything new in that regard. Genuinely not here to argue, just wanted to present an alternative perspective here. As someone who's been studying animation for upwards of 10 years and who is against AI art, I really did not get this message from this film at all.

okay, i might be the only person on earth feeling this way, but this film left a little bit of a sore taste in my mouth after i finished it 😔 !!absolutely not an attack on anyone who loved it, just my opinion😔🤌💚!! first of, i was determined to watch it in the theatre AND cry. I'm a big time film crier, so i was prepared. I haven't been to the cinema for years, and i made this a whole occasion for myself. not only did i not cry, i also felt a little off. everything about this movie felt SO human. i couldn't stop thinking about all the magnificent concept art there must've been created to make this magnificent scenery. but, dude, seriously? make human artists bust their asses and souls off visualising a story about "robot feeling human emotions" while ai is raging and destroying art market? that's just.... certainly a choice? maybe I'm "too woke", but even after thinking about it for months after watching - this film feels a little bit like a mockery? "here, watch us make artists draw all this magnificent art and animate these wonderful characters in the story about artificial intelligence being a mother". like.... cool??? but i think there's right time and place for everything. right now i could not give a single fuck about a story of how great this robot is, like, I'm sorry, but just no? "wall-e" still works for me, i think, because the main character presented as someone human from the get-go, we don't see him "gain consciousness" throughout the movie. or maybe it's just the fact that i watched wall-e as a kid. all in all, the best parts of this film for me were the animals and art, through and through. and, believe me, i tried to put in actual effort, tried to sympathise with the main character, i genuinely did. i just couldn't. all i could think about is them presenting this wholesome story while plotting the ways of how to replace as much artistry as possible with ai behind the scenes. as an animator... just no. I'd rather go rewatch "lilo and stitch" or "bao" if I want great family representation in animation 😔
