Very true

Franklin

You see Kendall go back down and try to get the kid out... you can see him dive back under the water, though he can't stay under long enough to get him out, and he tries a second time but is under there even less time, the drug and panic are not helping him hold his breath at all. Also, I noticed that the kid grabbed the wheel and steered them off the road, not Kendall, so while Kendall is gonna have nightmares about it, he didn't even steer them off the road. I think Kendall also has to reckon with his own close brush with death, too. He knows that easily could have been him at the bottom of the river.

I got to look those up. Thanks for the recommendations

Franklin

Oh my goodness thanks for bringing that up. Such a wild contrast from season 1 beginning Yeah she making that joke, it was a bit off. It's like shit like that is just normalized around the group

Franklin

sad as hell

Finnhie

Dawg… Kendall is suffocating out here

comment for the first episode, as i'll watch the second episode tomorrow (and spoiler free, these are my thoughts on my first watch a couple of months ago): the way kendall started season one sober with energy, rapping along with songs in the car, and then starts off season two in the car disoriented, doing whatever logan wants and returned to old habit... the contrast there is brutal i think roman and shiv definitely knows something is off with kendall in the first episode. i get the vibe that they're insulting him with the expectation that he will do the same in return, like how their relationship as siblings has worked as far as we've been shown in season one. remains to be seen if roman and shiv do something with that or just assume it's due to his addiction (and/or ignore it bc of that assumption) also, shiv bringing up logan beating roman so casually in front of so many people had me pause. maybe it's a cultural thing (or a class thing), but anyone bringing up something like that so casually where i live would cause a reaction from everyone

I always mix up Succession and Severance when I try to say one or the other out loud, haha! I love this dang show. And Mr. Molloy being here always warms my heart. If you haven't looked into Talk Radio (1985), it's a film based on a play written by Eric Bogosian, and he stars in the film as well. He's 100% Daniel Molloy in it, the same exact kind of guy but young. It's intense, raw, and heavy but really good. Also, if you want more of Greg's actor portraying a similar character but the opposite social/financial class, check out the film Zola! It's an A24 film based off of a Twitter thread posted by a stripper who had a Very Weird Roadtrip. The cinematography is stunning, the acting is phenominal, it's hilarious, it's dark, it's real, it would get demonetized on Youtube foooor sure without certain scenes clipped out. Greg is pretty much Greg, too, and he's hilarious. (Even if you watch it just for you without recording a react, it's phenomenal and a constant rewatch for me and my partner!)

Nova

Would you be disappointed if I said I didn't even notice? 😭 She's always just looked extremely attractive to me, so I guess I didn't notice that specific thing. If that makes sense. I think another character commented on her new hair, and it kind of just looked the same to me. Maybe if I see a side-by-side

Franklin

right? Like she's actually holding herself back from fully celebrating. Which again shows how much she cares for him

Franklin

Very true. Hopefully soon. Something actually happened today while I was watching. I saw myself actively getting more and more invested in this show, and it making my heart bigger and bigger. And for a second, I saw myself becoming you. Because you've told me how obsessed you are with this show, and I was like " ah so this is how Melissa feels"

Franklin

It's so fucking infuriating

Franklin

Well said

Franklin

You're right about the self-sabotage. And thanks for pointing that out I was wondering why he had that scarf on and the whole sickness thing

Franklin

One more note: You like Shiv alot more than I did in the beginning of this season. You don't find her arrogant since the end of season 1?

NJM

Both siblings and his friend know something is wrong. But Kendall won't communicate.

NJM

Shiv would’ve been much better off if she followed Tom‘s advice and kept both options open. Unfortunately, all the siblings have a panache for self-sabotage. Also, there’s a running theme of Tom being injured after sleeping with Shiv. The black eye he got from her S1 and now he is covered up in a scarf after they got it on? Shiv announces that he’s sick, but it doesn’t seem to be true at all. I know they’re freaky in the bedroom and that’s an interesting element to their dynamic.

Hannah G0123

She’s so delightful! I can see how she gets along with Roman, they both like to hit below the belt.

Valaree

:0 I never got the Pinky thing thank you - (an only child)

amanda_owl

I look at Kendall's tandem motorcycle rides in this way: He wants freedom, but his dad's only "allowing" the tethered-flavored variety. Kendall lost out on the hostile takeover bid because he couldn't get to the office for the shareholder meeting in time (neither by air nor by land, lol--USPS he aint), so now his riding is a representation of him trying to be Light, mobile, agile. He doesn't want to be caught out again. Also, he's a kid and they're training wheels ...it's both not serious (goofy, funny, cringey) and an existential representation of who he is right now (riding shotgun, not in the driver's seat of his own life).

NotGoodyProctor

Logan calls Shiv Pinky because she is the fourth child, like the fourth finger, lol. I would find that nickname so sweet if it were anyone else. Shiv is one of my favorite characters ever written, up there with Jamie Lannister (obviously in the books, not the show - oh how they butchered my boy!!!). She is such a complex and interesting person. I would never want to be in a room with someone like her, but she's so fascinating to watch. When you think about how she grew up surrounded by the worst kinds of men, everything she says and does starts to make so much sense. As for Tom and Shiv, they are my favorite fictional marriage of all time, probably. just a pure shit show that I can write disertation-long essays about. I'll comment more on their relationship later on, but I wanted to say I appreciate how you talk about Shiv. I've seen many reactors call her the worst and evilest of all the Roys, when she's not? They're all just equally horrible? People demonize her for how she treats Tom, but her relationship with Tom is complicated; she is manipulative, but she's not the only one at fault for not making the relationship smooth sailing - it takes two to tango, and these two dance like they're at the club 24/7. Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you so much for reacting to Succession, it's my favorite show of all time, and I'm glad you're enjoying it!!

Mariam Ortiz

The way Logan has Kendall follow him like a dog in the Summer House, then at the end of this episode, he has him sit in Logan’s office like a dog sleeping at the foot of his bed. No space of his own, just an obedient, favored pet.

Valaree

"You should try swallowing something" lolll Tabitha is low key my fav character

melskmelsk

Re: your comments on Tom/Kendall . . . I don't think Kendall is only acting this way bc he's intimidated by Logan. I believe he feels he deserves all of this after what happened with the waiter at the wedding. It's self-flagellation. Shame. Self-hatred. All of it. I, too, want our Kendall back, but I understand his state of mind here. I know you do, too. I can't tell you how much I am loving your reactions to this show.

Melissa

i actually hate how shiv can't be really happy about the idea of being ceo because tom is jealous lol

N

Not a spoiler! The writers had to have been inspired by Ted Kennedy's involvement in Chappaquiddick when writing Kendall's waiter story: https://www.history.com/articles/ted-kennedy-chappaquiddick-incident-what-really-happened-facts

Melissa

Franklin, I'm waiting for you to comment on Shiv's chic new hairstyle!! :)
