haha true, I guess it just gets to a point to where it's not for me anymore, at least that aspect of the shows

Nah, you are definitely onto something, and I totally agree. I love how you describe their relationship dynamic

I'm glad you understand that Geraldine is just there to love and support her mom. I used to see a lot of people hating on her for trying to be there for her and for trying to get her to talk and for trying to make a connection with Carolyn, saying she's annoying and too persistent, etc. And like, I get that her approach may seem tedious especially from Carolyn's pov bc she works through her issues differently and honestly, they're both fundamentally different people.
They're not exactly compatible, yet have immense patience for each other: Carolyn when she listens to Geraldine's suggestions and attempts to try Talking and Sharing and things like that even though Talking is just not something that makes Carolyn feel better and possibly worsens her negative feelings; Geraldine when she tries different kinds of ways to connect to her mother and tries to use their shared pain as a bridge to finding common ground, but the way she processes emotional turmoil is drastically different than the way her mother copes and there is always this gap.
There is no doubt Carolyn loves her children immensely and that is part of the reason why she is so hard on them. I think tough love is her love language because she is trying to make them strong and independent and just people that can endure hardship with their head held high. There is love there but there is no real middle ground when it comes to their emotional states and how they cope or process things. It's such a quietly loving, yet sad dynamic in my opinion. They love each other but don't quite understand each other, which makes them hard to relate to each other.
Ahh who knows, maybe I'm partially projecting or maybe I'm onto something. Either way, I just love how there are so many different dynamics at play in this show and theyre all so different and so interesting.

Yes, you should definitely check out some Wes Anderson! The Royal Tenenbaums and The Fantastic Mr. Fox are top tier, I bet you’d enjoy them quite a bit.

The optimism of thinking a monster like Dasha would be trying to get Eve and Niko back together 😅

Yeah I just feel so bad for Niko. Like he got PTSD and was clearly depressed. He was ignored by Eve in his marriage for so long. Just as he was finding a stable routine and some peace in Poland, man gets stabbed by a rake in the throat?!?!? Justice for Niko.

The only thing that comes to my mind when it comes to Eve and Villenel* and their relationship, is “Icarus.” She flew too close to the sun with a brand, new wax wings, suffering now in her fall.

WARNING: spoiler for first-time watchers. Don’t read this if you haven’t seen episode 4 yet.
Re: how I felt when I watched the end of 4 for the first time - so sad, and a little angry. I really liked Niko and I figured (or hoped) he would disappear into happy obscurity. Such a tragic casualty of Eve’s morbid infatuation. 🙁
I’ve been surprised by all the Villanelle admiration. I liked watching her because she’s shocking and absurd and irredeemable and wears really fabulous outfits but I can't imagine gushing about her after I'm done watching. Jodie is the only one I'll swoon over lol
