Fun fact, even though it looks like Edward now just went full emo esthetic with the bleeding heart getting stabbed addition—that actually completed the historical(ly attributed to him) flag of Blackbeard... And historical Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet really did both take the act of grace together, then had some falling out and Blackbeard took the Revenge, threw out his books and stuff and marooned about half of Bonnet's crew (though it was more like 50 people)

2025-05-28 13:24:30 +0000 UTCI just want to give you some context as to why so many people (including me hehe) were so hopeful you'd react to this show 🥹 It aired in march of 2022 and the second season was released in october of 2023. during that time a MASSIVE community around this show was created. it was one of the very few shows (at least at the time) to feature an older queer couple, without "if"s or "but"s or "creators confirmed their relationship after the show was over". no!!!!! it's a story about one queer person falling in love with another and specifically stating it. it struck me even more hard when i think about how rare it is nowadays, still, to meet an older queer couple because of aids. it's tragic, and seeing these two kiss felt like something in the air was healing. many, and i mean [a lot] of people discovered their own queerness thanks to this show. shit, i immigrated from my home country where it's gradually becoming illegal just to exist as a queer person, because i was drawing animatics based on this show and suddenly realised - if someone were to "snitch" on me - it would have actual fucking consequences???? that's literally what made my brain to "switch" and take immigration seriously. this show literally changed lives just because the lunatic (affectionate) david jenkins (btw he played the officer who's rowing in the end of episode 1) said "let's make them kith". i fucking love this show, it was the first time i dived into a fully and proudly queer community and became brave enough to question things about myself. i watched a lot of stuff since then - but this show feels like home, like a discovery, forever is and forever will. mkay, onto your actual reaction 😌🤌 i loooooved seeing you gradually accepting the rules of this extremely silly world 😂 your face at times had me absolutely wheezing. it's so clear you got attached to these silly guys by the end, it was just so precious to look at 🥹 the fucking silk man UGH. i was SO MAD about it, i drew a (possibly my best) animatic about it just because how much it stung me. it's the physical embodiment of his hope to fit in. it's the trace of his mother 😭 also, whatever happens, i will never forgive izzy for what he did to Ed idgaf. Ed found a way for himself to heal. he was healing!! only for this angry chihuahua to come and drag him back into the pit of despair with himself just because he doesn't have a purpose outside of "serving blackbeard". i guess you could apply the "you hate a character when they remind you of yourself" to izzy. i used to feel incredibly attacked by the change of dynamics with people dear to me, i felt like my whole world would crumble if things were to change. izzy feels like a state i want to never ever come back to and that's why it hurts to see. Mary is the GOAT. starting a therapy session after an attempted murder is what we call a healthy marriage 😋😇 I love her, I loved Stede's interaction with his daughter. the way he didn't fit in their lives anymore, but he's still loved. it's something he always wanted, to be loved despite fitting in or not, isn't it slightly ironic? no spoilers, just saying that i personally acknowledge season two's existence, but after being filled with endless love to s1 and drawing and fantasising !!!every day!!! for more than a year about how it might continue - I'm afraid, season two could never possibly satisfy the already build up expectations, that was inevitable 😔 I'm still sad about it, so I'm trying to hold in my excitement for s3 of "squid game" to not end up disappointed. that's a hard lesson I learned haha. That is to say, i hope you'll love it!!! I do feel like watching it without prior long theorising would be an entirely different experience 🥹 Thank you for the hard work and much love 💚💚💚

Love hearing ur thoughts about the relationships and messages in the story. Mary’s whole arc is so interesting and I love that conversation they have so much. Hope ur feeling better! Stoked for S2! Has one of my fav eps of tv ever in it. Won’t say which of course.
