Slim sitting there like his parents are arguing when Avon going off on string ๐Ÿ˜‚

Matthew Arner

โ€œYour homophobia is so visceralโ€ is one of the funniest lines ever I swear

Matthew Arner

damn you're so right. I didn't even consider that angle. All over some bullshit. They're both quite prideful

Franklin

I'm a couple of weeks late catching up, but: The thing I love about that last scene with Stringer and Avon together is that these are dudes that both still clearly love each other and regret what they *feel like* they have to do in betraying each other... but both of them are betraying the other over some bullshit. Stringer snitches on Avon because he's fucking up their business and cash flow... but so what? Stringer already said earlier in the season that they already made so much money they aren't going to be alive to spend it all. Dude has who knows how many millions, and property too. If he wanted to he could tell Avon good luck, dip out, and have more than enough for the rest of his life. But no - he wants more of that cash flow. He's betraying his brother over greed. And Avon? Mouzone didn't threaten to kill Avon if he didn't give Stringer up. He said he'd lose his line to New York, and his reputation. He wouldn't be able to run his crew anymore, but again... fuck it, right? He has enough money. He could have told Mouzone to kick rocks, he wasn't giving Stringer up, warned Stringer, and the two could have retired together with their mountain of cash. But no - he protected his rep with his brother's life. As a viewer we might feel like one of them was more right than the other, but at the end of the day they are both ruthless motherfuckers drunk on their own particular bullshit and willing to sacrifice their best friend since childhood over it. And deep down they both know it.

Stringer was off his game. Rmbr he started smoking & drinking heavy. He was running around like a chicken w its head cut off. He wasn't thinking clearly & missed the queues: 1 Yes the time 2. Also "U need to rest more" That was Avons coping gift to himself (i.e. I tried to tell hm to stop working so hard on that real estate ish & he didn't listen. If he would've just took the day off like I said...). Im so mad u replayed it๐Ÿ˜ญ Was hoping u replyed their memory convo. Its one of my top 2 fav scenes n the series. 9 rewatches & 13yrs to watch that scene again & here u go double activating my anxiety #Grabs๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ด

The end Avon's and Stringer's friendship was Shakespearean really. I was not sad, Stringer was acting so foolish towards the end. He and Avon both lost. I disagree that Avon was like Stringer, I think he did it reluctantly his reputation was on the line because of how Stringer did so much sneaky shit.

Yes, and I also feel there is genuine love there and a fondness for their memories over the years. Just incredible. โค๏ธ

They both went there thinking they were having their Old Yeller moment where they give their old friend one last good experience before they have to put them down.

Spoiler comment**** Crazy how every door was boarded up right? What is something Stringer is always saying? "Yo lock that door" " Shut that door".

Can't help but smile at the Omar/Mouzone scene, one of my favorites in the show

Roronoa Denpaii

Yes! I thought the same thing. Not because he's gay but because of what we've seen of him all along and then to drop that in there -- explains a lot of his horribleness. I suspect he hates who he is or hates that he has to hide or both.

Melissa

That final Avon/Stringer scene . . . brilliant. I could watch it over and over and still feel it on so many levels - so many layers. Incredible.

Melissa

**spoiler for the episode. watch it all the way through before checking this comment :) ** The goodbye scene between Avon and Stringer was truly masterful. I remember when I first watched it, it preempted the feelings (for me) of the final scene with Stringer because it marked the first timeI saw Idris portray Stringer as genuinely afraid. Suddenly, Stringer seemed completely out of his depth. Even his decision to call a hit on Clay Davis highlighted how his philosophy/'business acumen' falls short in this game. In fact this episode was fantastic at illustrating the kind of house of cards String built. Mans was taking L after L and it all came down to what Brother M mentioned to Avon in the barbershop: it wasn't about the money, but about name, his word, and reputation. Things String didn't take much stock in, but which eventually led to his alienation and ultimately, his death.

That was an underwhelming reaction to Rawls in the gay bar. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

In the last episode, Chris and Snoop staked out that take out restaurant. They clocked Devonne pausing and looking at the car there -- the one Avon was in that got shot up. They put it together that Avon sent Devonne to Marlo as a set up.

Once you've watched all the seasons, you should rank the various versions of the theme song. :)

Endless appreciation to you for watching this series and enjoying it thoroughly! It's been a long time since I watched these and it's excellent in many ways but definitely more enjoyable to also see you experience it, too. PS I love how much you love Wallace
