The Good Place 1 x 12-13 | Full-Length Reaction

Comments

Michael's laugh is the best evil laugh I've ever heard. It's perfect. Also, NO ONE on the set knew the twist except for the writers and like, one director. Not even the actress who played Real Eleanor knew until like, filming the last episode. The showrunners were legit. Also, Glenn is a writer, not an actor, they just suggested he okay one of the parts and then he was Glenn lol

Brandi

Michael is basically Jean Paul Sartre in this episode lmaooo if you haven’t read his work I very much recommend it, I’m pretty sure the people making TGP took some inspiration from Sartre, especially his sentence « Hell is other people » ! I love this show so much I could ramble about it for hours hahaha

Camila

Big Florida behavior lol Thank you. I'm sure watching this what all the knowledge is such a good time

Franklin

Yes yes. So happy I took this on

Franklin

I was waiting for you to get to the finale!!! The twist is so good and the rest of the show is just as good if not better. You're gonna love the character development, I'm so glad you decided to watch this show.

FreshFry

It's been so much fun rewatching this while you do. Your reactions and insights are fun and smart, and I love seeing all of the clues in retrospect already knowing the twist.

Leisha Jones

"That is Florida behavior" 😂😂😂 and it was.

Leisha Jones

I think it's one of those things where it was just so absurd, that you wouldn't even think a sitcom like this will pull such a Twist on you. Like you think about it but your brain is like nah, it can't be that. God damn so good

Franklin

Amazing plot twist indeed. And yes that evil laugh was so good I had to watch it twice,. Oh shit four seasons/ yeah we're going to be eating good for a while

Franklin

That video was gold. Thank you so much. All their reactions were so different and special

Franklin

I'm happy it was everything you hoped for. It's so so good. It definitely played into our usual expectations of sitcoms. All this time it was just dropping breadcrumbs. Genius Thanks for the link. I'm going to watch it right now

Franklin

I absolutely like your theory but this was so mind-blowing. I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did

Franklin

Oh my God thank you so much for mentioning this lol

Franklin

Gracias

Franklin

I love all of this. They absolutely had a plan. I love what you said about people not expecting such a good written Twist from a silly sitcom

Franklin

Exactly. They could have milked it for so much longer and it would still be great. But on the other hand, gotta respect them for not doing that. A lot of other TV shows try that and fail

Franklin

Takes like half the fun away right

Franklin

I'm happy too. It got close tho. Glad you enjoyed it

Franklin

Thanks James. I watched it after recording and it was so fun watching myself

Franklin

I'm glad I didn't get there. Overall I try not to theorize at all, because I might get too close to the answer and the moment doesn't hit as much for me ya know

Franklin

damn 🤣 hahaha no offense to y'all obviously. You didn't even try to defend your place. I love it

Franklin

That makes me so so happy

Franklin

lol got to make sure I stay informed🤣💛

Franklin

I am CRYING at you looking up the word "snog". 🤣 This whole reaction was gold!

Tanesha H.

My friend, there are 4 seasons of this series. In my opinion, this series has the best finale of all time. You will enjoy this journey and the character arcs.

Allen Kue

I never noticed either! He even says "Hi there!" like Janet!

Lola Lirola

As someone who was raised in Cincinnati, it is definitely the medium place 😂

Tess Duwel

I thought the same thing!!

Rhiannon

There was a time in a previous episode where you breaking everything down and I was CERTAIN that you were about to figure it out. Glad it happened the way it was supposed to.

James Yetter

For me, the snog definition camera glance was the chef's kiss

James Yetter

What a great reaction! I'm so glad you made it this far without the twist getting spoiled. This is truly one of my favorite season finales in television.

Serenity

My first time through this show I guessed that major damn twist in the first or second episode just because I read a short story in like middle school with the same twist. It was terrible trying not to give it away to my wife. xD

Shane

I was admiring his lovely blouse but didn’t even clock that it was Janet cosplay 😆

Valaree

So, you said that this reveal is so big, and so series-twisting that in any other show it would have been a series finale or something, and I so agree! It's my *only* criticism of this show: it goes so fast! I wish they took their time with each of the different plots for way longer: the trying to hide, the other couples, the character development... I definitely could have watched 22-episode seasons and 8 seasons instead of 4!

Lola Lirola

YES!!! I'm so glad that nobody spoiled it for you!! Now the *real* fun begins.

Lola Lirola

3 more seasons, actually! I LOVE how perfectly crafted the first season is. The twist seems SO obvious in hindsight, but I don't think very many people at all figured it out before the reveal. As far as I'm aware, most still don't even after hearing there IS a twist. I'm not sure if it's just because people don't think to expect something like that from a silly sitcom, or if they just like the original premise so much...because this twist flips the whole show on its head and gives everything that came before it new meaning, and it completely changes the trajectory of where you might've been expecting the show to go. It's a very bold choice that pays off SO well. This is a show that knows EXACTLY what points it wants to make and where it wants to go. So many sitcoms have a loose premise and kind of wing it...maybe have some short arcs planned that they weave together. But The Good Place? Nah, they had a PLAN.

Laura Pitts

Another fantastic reaction, my guy!

James Yetter

All of this ^^^ and also the fact that we know this is Michael's first neighborhood (which is true), so we excuse any flaws as unintentional errors. It's brilliant all around.

Melissa

Yes, I remember this, too!!!

Melissa

18:47 I've NEVER noticed Michael has on a "Janet suit" when he brings them frozen yogurt! Hilarious!

Melissa

Oh my goodness, I did not see this coming at all! It was delicious and totally blew away my theory that this was what someone would consider “purgatory“ where everyone in the “good place” we supposedly didn’t belong. We’re there to confront their past and grow from it in order to elevate their spiritual growth. This is so much better and much more fun! Can’t wait to see the next one!

Laura Thate

I enjoyed your reaction so so much. Truly everything I hoped for! This episode is when I truly began to love this series. Leading up to it, there is a lot of artifice that I accepted unsuspectingly, like how the Good Place is kind of stuffy and restrictive, or every other character in the neighbourhood is very two dimensional, or that anyone would want a house decorated with clowns, or how the couple that came to stay with Chidi and Eleanor seemed perfectly designed to aggravate their situation, or how Michael keeps giving them jobs to do IN HEAVEN. I accepted it all as script-writer artifice because it's a sitcom and they often sacrifice realism to create the “situations” in sitcom, but all the time it was DEMONIC artifice, and the whole show was on another level I didn't perceive the whole time. It's truly genius. Also if no one has yet linked you to it, I recommend this little video of the cast being told what would happen in the S1 finale for the first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Bhyin0HaLU

Leticia

To me, it's one of the best plot twists of all time. Michael's evil laugh gave me chills the first time I saw it. There's so much more to explore, and actually, it's 4 seasons (not 3). This show is brilliant, and I can't wait to watch it all unfold again!

Loren

You said you’ve should have seen it coming and I think you did, in the first video you uploaded you said something and I went “fork , he figured it out and he doesn’t even know it”

DP

They rely so much on sitcom stereotypes to make it work. We excuse what looks like plot holes because sitcoms typically ignore tight plotting to maximize comedy opportunities. We assume the show is just being a little unrealistic to cram in more humor, but NO! Those “plot holes” were intentional and the show is forking with us!

Valaree

I loved your reaction! I'm so glad you got to go in knowing nothing haha! It seemed like you could figure it out when you commented on soulmates maybe being "malarkey" 😂 It's so fun rewatching season 1 knowing the truth. The show uses comedy in such a clever way so we as viewers overlook red flags. Oh and the show is actually 4 seasons! And trust me, I was wondering what the next 3 would be about too!

Drew B

EXACTLY This show is so clever for using the comedy to cover up red flags!

Drew B

I got too much joy from watching your reaction to the twist 😂 I love and miss this show so much. I relate to Chidi’s indecisiveness so feel bad for him, hope I don’t end up in the bad place🤞

Lucy Irvine

Michael kicked a puppy into the sun and we all thought, "yeah this is fine that makes sense."

Aaron

Dude, I was so waiting for this. I had just laid down, took a few hits of my vape to mellow out and checked to see if you had posted and I was not disappointed. Thank you so much for your reactions, you are a delight to watch.

THOMAS SPIVEY

OMG, It's Here! I was waiting for this lol

Miguel Lugo

I'm so glad you liked the moment where Eleanor told Michael he underestimated the goodness of humanity, it's the ethos of the show. It's so positive and comforting but also somehow still hilarious (and educational w/ ethics!)

anna w

When you posted your schedule this week and I saw what episodes of Hill House were Monday and what episodes of Good Place were today I wanted to say something sooooo bad. Very very excited!

Amanda Hill

Love that the Medium Place has been Tennessee, Cincinnati, and Tallahassee 😆

Ledgedancer

One of the best twists in tv history!!!!

EmmaDoodlebug

I’ve been waiting on this day since you’ve started 🤗

Jamiesha Douglas

Now you understand why we were DYING for this episode 😂
