The Wire 3x6-7 | Full-Length Reaction

Comments

I don’t see many ppl talk about this and I never even noticed it myself till I read it on The Wire subreddit, but the reason Kimmy is so pissed ab her girl getting shot is bc Omar’s bf is the one actually shot her. I was shocked when I read this bc I never picked up on it, but if u watch the scene of the shootout u will see how he’s the one who shot her in the head while trying to run away. That’s why Kimmy is always pressing him and was talking ab telling bunk who shot her. Crazy detail that I missed countless times but I finally watched for it while watching ur reactions and u can definitely tell it’s him that accidentally shot her.

Maybe? I think much of it is racism on some level -- blatant or not. This show tells the stories of people in all pockets of society, but it centers many persons of color in such a beautiful way by showing their humanity -- and their reality -- without subjecting them to be mere stereotypes. I know that makes many white people uncomfortable. They'd recognize and/or award The Sopranos (not saying it doesn't deserve it) left and right but not The Wire? A white antihero is more palatable, I guess. I often hesitate to bring up analysis or observations around race, being aware of my own privilege. If I said anything I shouldn't have or offended anyone, please call me out. I'm always listening. ☮️

I feel real bad for Country; the ol' dude that got murdered there. He seemed smarter than the other two. Must be awful to be in a life and death situation and have to rely on morons. Although I've heard that's a lot of what being in the military is like whilst in combat zones too, lol.

Shane

Love this. And thanks for bringing up the similarity with the basketball referee. So good

Franklin

wow!! I don't want to say they had it coming but Jesus

Franklin

That's real

Franklin

Amazing amazing amazing. You would think all the TV shows would study a show like this.

Franklin

That's hard to believe wow. If the show came out today, it would sweep the awards ?

Franklin

and I'd like to leave. lol

Franklin

All day 🙏🏾 thanks

Franklin

So much respect for Avon for saying that

Franklin

Incredible. Good old scolding

Franklin

period!

Caroline is my spirit animal police person. Does what she does well, keeps to herself, and always has a coupon for that.

Franklin -- I'm still holding on to Wallace, years and years later, after many rewatches so I feel you. 🥺 I didn't mean to attach this as a reply but 🤷‍♀️

Melissa

23:32 loving the fact that Omar and his guy are watching Oz 😆

Sruppa

Name a scene more impressive than Bunk confronting Omar on all of his shit. Wendell Pierce is such a firebrand when he really goes for it.

Noct

HE A MAN TODAY!!

Having seen the show before, I skip past all of the political scenes when rewatching on here. Can't stomach it. Aiden Gillen is a great actor, but his smarmy ways are more fun in a fictional world like GoT than one this realistic.

Melissa

I appreciate you for calling out Stringer for the snake he is.

NJM

Just popped in to say what I've been holding n for almost 6mos 😆 SNOOP‼️💜🙌🏾💯

Show really nails politicians. Every time there's a scene with 'em I feel like I'm in the room with them and I'd like to leave.

Shane

I just did some Googling and this show never won a single Emmy???!!! And only 2 Emmy nominations. #bullshit

Melissa

I'm with you at end of Ep 6 and holy hell, that's got to be one of the best episodes of the entire series. The acting with Stringer and Avon -- just their eye acting and body language is so intense. They're saying so much even when they don't speak. 💚 Cutty 💚 That Bunk/Omar scene is 🔥. Absolutely 🔥. This show is LEVELS above any other show on television. Period. And season 3 is peak.

32:00 First time I realized those numb nuts only waited like a block down instead of 4-5 like they were told. They were fuckin' up before they even fucked up.

Shane

23:31 i think you’ve said this before on the previous batch of eps (or one of the episodes in this season) but Avon with his street smart and Stringer with his business smart could work well together, it’s like Stringer said, they truly could “run the city” if only they could meet the middle ground but with this type of opposite personalities/mindset, it could also go the other way of what this is setting up rn of them clashing and i just find that so interesting! i also do think, with how Avon grew up and what he’s used to, it makes sense that he doesn’t really want the business side. even if, ultimately, Stringer is correct that they can get away with so much, but Avon doesn’t wanna dip his toes in that bc he’s “just a gangster” and I’ve always loved how he responded with that line after Stringer’s speech lol. 1:05:10 ahhh this is one of my favorite Avon scenes! i don’t know if you remember in s1 during the basketball game episode when Avon was telling the ref off and the ref was terrified to even stand up for himself? it’s like a parallel to this scene where Avon respects people who have the courage to stand up for themselves, even if it means they get hurt/killed/whatever in the process. like for example, if only that ref stood up to Avon when Avon got in his face, i bet you Avon would have reacted the same way he reacted now. i also loved his line “He a man today. He a man.” 🥹🥹 but i just realized three of my favorite The Wire characters are in this scene, showing some of the reasons why i love them (Slim Charles with his loyalty and covering for Cutty; Cutty with his whole story arc and seeing him finally step away, something he’s been struggling with so far but it’s just been interesting seeing his journey and there’s more to come for him, don't worry!; Avon with allowing Cutty to be out of the game and respecting him for it). 😭
