Damn. I love that connection you just made with Joey. Superb indeed Jason. His episodes was freaking amazing and his acting as well

2025-01-22 23:05:24 +0000 UTCAlso, I only noticed when watching this time the significance of Luke saying he would never know how it felt for his family to be burned like he burned them. Then he says "well, I hope I never find out how it feels" and then goes on to thank Joey, the person who will soon show him exactly how that actually feels. The writing in this show is just superb. Loving your reactions Frank.

2025-01-21 00:42:59 +0000 UTCI feel like Oliver Jackson-Cohen, who plays the adult Luke, gets sort of overlooked in this series. People love Victoria Pedretti obviously, cos who doesn't love Nell, and Theo understandably gets a lot of love but man, Luke's episode breaks my heart, and he is so damn good in it.

2025-01-21 00:38:04 +0000 UTCYou’re the first person I’ve watched who picked up on Luke feeling Nell’s death, it’s such a complex show I absolutely love it. I also love how analytical you are & the commentary you have! 🙌

2025-01-12 17:32:55 +0000 UTCI do find it interesting how both Steve and Paige at rehab gave Luke the same advice in different ways regarding Joey: don't hang your rehabilitation on another addict, don't get conned by a slick act. Even though Steve is kind of cold at times, and hard to read, he was thinking of Luke and Luke's future nonetheless.

2025-01-07 00:47:58 +0000 UTCOof. As someone who has OCD and still struggles sometimes, Theo's episode hit hard. I sometimes feel like the world has the volume turned to 11, and my body overreacts to everything: my skin bruises easily, I have dermatographia, I can hear even the tiniest sounds, I turn purple blue in the cold. People tend to overwhelm me a lot in person, and I always need a moment to center myself. I related to her. I heard you say "I thought she was a germaphobe but actually she..." and it reminded me of an interesting discussion I had with a group of young men who were also watching this show, and were trying to wrap their heads around all the symbolism and metaphors in it. Because they were deeply interested in the lore: the house, what haunts it, how does it operate, what are the rules, how does it happen to each of them, so forth. And I was very interested in the metaphors: each sibling represents/has a different mental illness, each is a stage of grief, each has a different family role (oldest, youngest, middle, twin) and family trauma. Each of them is one of the five senses (Theo is touch, Luke is smell...)**. They were growing impatient with me, and exclaimed "but there's ghosts, so it has to be ghosts!!", and I realized that we are taught to analyze media as "or actually...", like we have to uncover a *true* meaning that is the final reveal for those who know. But it isn't that way! All art, especially good art, is always "and". It's ghosts *and* it's grief. It's ghosts *and* it's the senses. It's the senses *and* it's family trauma. All of them! All the layers matrerz and happen at the same time. Along with all the unique personal connections each of us makes when we watch it! I love that this show has layers, and they all are true: Theo *is* an OCD germaphobe, actually. She is also hyper perceptive. And her skin is sensitive. And she is traumatized by her family. And she is grieving. And she is cursed. All of those at the same time! **: I have so many theories about what (many!) different things each sibling represents, but I'll save them for the end!

2025-01-02 22:56:19 +0000 UTCMy little sister is much like you are she cannot remember most of her youth from the time she was 12. Her story is not for me to tell her journey has been difficult but so courageous as she even at the age of 76 still continues to strive to meet within herself and remember the beautiful parts that will bring her comfort, understanding and peace as we are all still growing, no matter how old we get. Trauma responses from youth are harder to recover when they in that delicate portion of life between the ages of birth and five years old when the child’s brain is growing the greatest, and somethings that cannot be understood in the mind of a child yet felt like a long echo but even a smell on the breeze can trigger a moment of agony that the child does not understand where it came from because they were so able to build those malls to protect the child from the trauma. we are all here to reconnect with our original essence from birth that this world has stripped away in many different ways. Even if you never recover memories, always remember to give your inner child love he deserves. I see such grace and hear such conscious balance with a tinge of sadness at times that tells me you’re on the right path whatever it may be many blessings on your journey. Love yourself as deeply as you would love your mother, wife as you are deserving of everything beautiful this world has to offer. You offer this light of yourself too many and for that, I am grateful your in my timeline on my path as we each travel our own separate pathways we never walk alone. May grace be upon you.

2025-01-02 03:16:25 +0000 UTCWhat you said is so powerful about the lessons people can learn from this. It makes me sad sometimes that I don't have a vivid memory of a lot of my childhood. A lot of times, a lot just feels like a blur.

2025-01-02 03:15:34 +0000 UTCI agree. This episode of the show to that Theo was a lot more than meets the eye or what we expected. At least for me. I appreciate her character so much. Wow that's such a fun fact

2025-01-02 03:12:45 +0000 UTCDamn so sorry to hear that. I wish you didn't have to be that way. Why is it often the bad memories that are seared in our brains. Thanks for sharing and all that. I'm glad they took so much care with Luke's story, because I'm sure so many people relate to it

2025-01-02 03:10:17 +0000 UTCThis show is so excellently done. I’ve seen each episode multiple times, and I always seem to pick up on new things, subtle actions, that make my brain whir. Can’t wait to watch more of your thoughtful reactions!

2025-01-02 03:10:13 +0000 UTCLuke's story always punches me right in the gut. I lived in a haunted house as a child from 7 to 11 years old. It had been converted from a WWII-era nursing home, so you can imagine. I have a couple happy memories from that time, but I can't remember most of it. They (psychologists, etc) say that sometimes trauma will cause your brain to suppress things, and I wonder if that's what happened in my case. The ghosts were not the root cause of my trauma, but they (along with some other bad shit that I won't go into here) definitely were a major contributer. There are things that - even 30 years later - I can still see in my mind's eye as clearly as if it just happened yesterday. Wish it was just the happy memories that I remember so vividly. I also went through addiction to mask my past trauma just like Luke. Such a powerful story being told.

2024-12-31 23:19:01 +0000 UTCI think it's fun to see the actors/actresses play different characters in each series. It's fun to hear what resonates most with people. I think Bly is my fav, but love them all.

2024-12-31 23:03:17 +0000 UTCI'm team Stranger Things. :) But I do love this series. I think I liked "Midnight Mass" better than this one. Both excellent!

2024-12-31 22:11:48 +0000 UTCHill House is my favourite ghost/horror based TV series in a long time. The storyline, characters etc are second to none as an adaptation of the prior iterations. Dark is my favourite Sci-fi based TV series of ALL time. The themes, genre and cyclical nature of it just sends me to my happiest place. Such a fantastic story.

2024-12-31 16:14:05 +0000 UTCtheo is just so fascinating and after episode 3 she solidified as my favourite character in the show, just everything about her drew me in and both the younger and older actresses did such a great job - fun fact kate siegal who plays the older theo is actually mike flanagans wife and has starred in many projects that he has been attached to!

2024-12-31 13:11:21 +0000 UTCThis series hits home on so many levels of my long journey in this life. The writing is superb timing superb the transitions are so well done the pace of the realization of each child’s gifts and the trauma of their childhood and how it has affected their adult lives Will be something I hope will be teachable moments for others to look inward at their inner child and have the courage to speak with love and kindness, and listen to their inner child and start the healing process of whatever is holding them back or taking them down a destructive pathway.

2024-12-31 05:16:26 +0000 UTCI love Theo so much. Not only is she literally “magical” but her episode is just amazing. She’s such an intriguing character. She and Luke are probably my favorite characters. Love Nellie too, obviously she’s the character who moves the story forward.
