Comments

Godzilla Minus One

Adam Moody

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Rhonda Rocca

Agreed

Andre

Such a great list

Andre

It was so strange and original and beautiful to look at. Like a demented fairy tale. I thought it was great.

Andre

Oppenheimer!

Helene Ring Teppan

I also rather enjoyed Poor Things. It probably isn’t for everyone. The acting is phenomenal

Christina H

Both excellent films, I think Frank would love.

Christina H

DragonQuest: Your Quest. Don't know why, but I've had to have watched it dozen times in the last two years, could do it again right now. In fact....

Sean Horner

I haven’t really seen most of the recent films but I have to say Red, White and Royal Blue. It might not be a masterpiece among all movies but it definitely has its significance in its genre. Would love to see your reaction to it 😊

Sruppa

Adding Killers of the Flower Moon. Pretty much all of last year’s Oscar contenders, plus the previous year’s Banshees of Innisheran

Susan B

Truth. And if Frank accidentally finds HBO’s series The Leftovers while looking for The Holdovers, I hope he will react to both! 😊

Susan B

Everything, Everywhere All at Once

E.Shelby House

From is pretty good but scary. The writers working on it used to write for Lost.

Devon Michelle

Recently, Emily (a fictional portrayal of Emily Brontë) is sooo good and has become a new favorite of mine. and because it’s fictional, it feels less like a biopic and more of like… a darker but just as beautiful jane austen film.

caroline

Oh goodness yes you’re correct! Haha sorry I knew what you meant and didn’t even think about it. Updated above!

Abby Wooden

Just watched it. Surprising. 😃

Susan B

I erroneously called The Holdovers “The Leftovers” but I think we’re all referring to the 2023 Oscar nominated film and not the early 2000s limited series.

Susan B

I keep calling The Holdovers “The Leftovers,” dammit. (The Leftovers is an excellent limited series, but The Holdovers is a wonderful film.)

Susan B

Zone of Interest is an incredibly important film. A difficult and painful watch. It turns the Holocaust inside-out and makes us ask ourselves whether we would be heroes in that time, or simply observers living our adjacent lives. I’m afraid we Americans all be confronted with that question in our real lives, sooner rather than later.

Susan B

Everything Everywhere All At Once has become one of my all-time favourite movies. It's just amazing.

Tim

I'd have to say, The Holdovers, and, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3

Brownie Win

I'm just gonna make a small note that the movie everyone is recommending as "The Leftovers" is actually called "The Holdovers", in case you search for it to watch it! 😅 It's a really great movie, I agree with everyone recommending it!

Lola Lirola

I Saw the TV Glow 100%

Apai

I’ll second the following that others have already mentioned: Challengers Conclave Everything everywhere all at once* Poor things The Holdovers American fiction May/ December Fall guy Past lives * Everything everywhere all at once I have to make a specific callout because it’s truly one of my favorites of all time. And sorry to say I really didn’t like Oppenheimer even though it was so wildly acclaimed. I thought it was extremely overhyped.

Abby Wooden

"The Banshees of Inisherin" and "Anatomy of a Fall" became some of my favourite ever films

Finley

Black phone, they cloned Tyrone, long legs, the boy and the heron, Godzilla minus 1, talk to me, woman king, monkey man, how to make millions before gma dies

sierra's reaction corner

Across the Spiderverse Killers of the Flower Moon Dune Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Dungeons & Dragons Oppenheimer Barbie The Boy and the Heron Haikyuu: The Dumpster Battle

Noct

I had not heard of "Monster," and the trailer alone had me in my feels. Thanks for the rec.

Melissa

Dune part 2, Small Things Like These, and The Banshees of Inisherin. Also loved All of Us Strangers

Kim D

You’re right! I was trying to be funny, but didn’t come across that way at all.

Chris Costelloe

Conclave. Hands down the best performances out there this year.

The World Through Stories

Wicked Little Letters was so good! Great acting and story! Olivia Coleman shines as per..

Michaela B

Dune Pt 2, Pearl, and Challengers, all super different but very unique film styles and killer acting

Julia Barrera

Oppenheimer Godzilla Minus One

Quinn Tran

This one is easy! Everything Everywhere All at Once!

Jenny Jackson

Dare I say it? SALTBURN. There. I said it. I honestly want to know Frank’s take on Saltburn.

Susan B

Yes! American Fiction tied with 2 other films from the same Oscar nominee batch, The Leftovers and Poor Things. But dammit I love Banshees of Inisherin.

Susan B

Banshees of Inisherin, Society of the Snow (which you have seen, right?), Poor Things, and the Christmas movie “The Holdovers.” (Edited my comment because I mistakenly called it The Leftovers.”)

Susan B

“Nosferatu” has easily peaked the list from this year. “Talk to Me” (2022) being high up there. “ The Banshees of Inisherin” (2022) was in my tops. “Monica” (2022) was really good. “To Catch A Killer” (2023) is a personal favorite, but wasn’t widely liked. “The Passenger” (2023) was an interesting watch.

Sarah Rose

Tick, tick, boom

Elizabeth Schnitzer

Woman King... hands DOWN... controversy & all💯

Black Valyria

Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. For about 75% of that movie I was like this 😮. Never once paused it, even though I desperately needed the loo. One of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. If you haven’t seen it, please react to it. It’s unexplainable.

Christina H

I turn to Bottoms when I'm feeling low, the film exudes 2000s satire vibes and never fails to make me laugh

N

What dreams may come.

Laura Thate

Everything, Everywhere All at Once for sure.

Amanda Hill

Everything Everywhere is my favorite movie of all time from the moment I saw it! Instant top of the list. But it's from 2022, so I thought it would be cheating to recommend it! Always good to find fellow fans of the movie. 🙋‍♀️

Lola Lirola

Smile 2 was so fun to see in theaters.. of course I'm not recommending it for you cause you hate horror haha

Drew B

Omg yes!

Valentine

Probably The Iron Claw. I went in knowing almost nothing about it and it was so much more than I expected.

Shane

The man ain't even late yet. xD I empathize though. I too am a fiend for them episodes.

Shane

🥰🥰🥰🥰

Melissa

"American Fiction" --- this is a must see.

Melissa

loooved monkey man!

Aaron S.

fellow monster mention ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Aaron S.

Everything Everywhere All at Once for sure!! I recommended that movie to sooo many people and it’s one of those where you can sort of gauge a person’s angle of awareness by how they respond to it! It’s fascinating in that way. Blink Twice is also a recent one that lowkey blew me away.. it BEGS for commentary quite FRANKly 🤭hehe

Michaela B

“Wicked little letters” is my first!!! but my other suggestions are: “Zone of interest”, “maestro”, American fiction”, “May December”, “Nyad”.

Francisca Bastos

Past Lives or Blink Twice

Altynai

It was picked up by a small production company and wasn't really advertised, you can get it on YouTube though and I thought it was a good adaptation of the 1st book.

X Jae

I had no idea "Aristotle and Dante . . ." was a film. I LOVE THAT BOOK SO MUCH.

Melissa

- Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe - The Color Purple (musical) - Wicked - The Last Voyage of the Demeter - Humane

X Jae

Woman King (2022)

Lovaire Hawkins

My favorite was “Fall Guy” — simply because it was enjoyable, funny, and a stunt filled good time. Absolutely loved the cast! ❤️😁

Beware The Jabberwock

Everything Everywhere All At Once

laluneodyssee

It's a very weird movie, but it's one I cannot stop thinking about: Inside (2023) If you look at the synopsis, it's about a thief who wants to steal a painting from a millionaire's house, and gets trapped inside. I thought it was going to be a heist thriller with tensions about his escape, but instead it's a slow, meditative, practically silent reflection about art, who gets to make it, who gets to sell it and who gets to buy it; why do we make art and why it matters; what is art and what isn't, and what is the frontier between art and life; and even about whether there is a God or Nature and do they even know about us. It's very hermetic and allegorical. On the surface, almost nothing happens, but then it ends and you realize a whole life has happened. It's honestly the movie I have thought about the most in the last two years, but I never dare recommend it, because it's slow, and weird, and not for everybody. I'm not sure if it would make a great reaction, probably not, but if you have the opportunity, do watch it, I think you in particular will appreciate it. In more regular, more reactable movies and definitely recommended, Rye Lane (2023)! Just fun, charming, hopeful... You leave comforted and happy. And the colors reminded me of Almodóvar a bit. It's kinda the Black version of Before Sunrise, so I hope we get a continuation 9 years later, like we had with the Before trilogy (which I really, really recommend too). It's a return to movies about people! If the rules are a bit less strict, my favorite movie of all time, Everything Everywhere All At Once, is from 2022.

Lola Lirola

Monkey Man, Challengers and Past Lives - All of them were thought provoking and well acted.

Sy

The Wire 3 x 4+5 ?

Chris Costelloe

Tbf I watch alot of movies. And I have alot of emotions. In no real order Challengers ( steamy has more rewatch value than people give it credit for) Bottoms (will forever be Hilarious) Nope ( just a great time in theaters) Saltburn( messy, but also very fun twice disturbing to some) Across the spiderverse( cause it's just good) I saw the TV glow( made me cry) Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thives ( just alot of fun) Late night with the Devil ( also just fun) Past lives ( also cried) Monster ( it's beautiful and i cried like a baby)

Valentine

Oppenheimer 2023, Amazing acting and an introspective look at the man who is responsible for creating the atom bomb, and how the weight of this achievement affected him.

chris scalercio

Challengers is a top pick!

Victoria

Red white and royal blue. The idea of you The Substance Wicked Please consider either of the first two as an option for the channel.

Mary E Crum

I loved Sing Sing, A Real Pain, Wicked Little Letters, Tuesday, & just today I watched Night Bitch which was pretty great. I like them independent & funny, emotionally raw, or just plain weird.

Bethany that's me

monster (2023, by dir. hirokazu koreeda)

Aaron S.

Challengers! It’s a really good one for you to react to — I think you’d love it!

Lisa
