This has been explained in the show. I’ve often wondered why it is brought up as impossible 😂 And the boys could afford theirs because Chandler’s job was in .. finance? As Rachel said, he’s a transponster

The shop owner said "don't worry, just bring them in tomorrow". But the next day I forgot. I was so consumed by guilt that I couldn't go by the store for weeks. Finally, I confessed this terrible, terrible crime to my mom, and asked her to accompany me for support to make it right with the shop owner. As I approached him trembling and expecting a bad telling to, I realized he didn't even remember! 😅 I still paid him back the 25 cents, though. Like Chidi, I couldn't stop thinking about it!! So that's why I will always love him with all his tortured, irritating and absurd flaws. Three *years* later for the boots! I just relate so much. Every time I see him flop sweat, I feel so seen.

It reinforces my feelings that this is the place where we learned to get better to embrace our better selves while letting go of our guilt, shame, and trauma. This is the place worth fighting forit’s not a mistake. It’s a learning curve!

I'm more of a doodler, but I get the fidget thing.) My main comment here is just how much I love ALL of these characters. Janet is my GOAT, but truly, I love them all. Tahani's celebrity name drops and feigned humility; "Jianyu"/Jason's confusion about generally everything -- he's such a "skater boy" stereotype; Eleanor's sarcasm and directness - she's so real; Chidi's sincerity coupled with his constant stress of a stomachache related to an ethical concern; Michael's ideas of what it is to be human, like being fascinated with paperclips. The show has sharp writing and genuinely funny situations, dialogue, and callbacks. It's such a FUN ride! :)
