Update on TV shows - More TV shows! For a while now, I've been thinking about adding some more shows to the roster. I think I've reached a point where I can allocate more time to exploring more shows. I'll start with one additional show, and after a week or so of seeing how that goes, I can start another. I will pick the top 2 shows from this poll. Happy Voting!
Upload schedule - To balance the schedule we already have, I will endeavor to drop 2 episodes per show every time it appears on the weekly schedule. That way, adding more shows wouldn't necessarily slow down the ones we're already watching. I hope This new endeavor goes smoothly, but realistically, hiccups happen. I'll try to communicate along the way and this community has shown to be quite understanding, so I'm not too bothered!
Hopefully this can help us get through shows quicker and enjoy more at the same time. See you in a couple of days! Cheers✨

I was initially surprised when I realised there would be a second season to begin with because I felt that the first season works so well as a standalone. But anyway, thanks for telling me! I think I’m still gonna check it out but at least I won’t be terrible surprised or disappointed if it doesn’t live up to expectation ☺️

I only watched the first season back in 2016 when it first came out but somehow never got around to watching seasons 2-4 and I’m thinking about picking it back up again. Without spoiling anything I think it would fit in well with some of the other shows you are currently watching and some you have on the list right now.

Although, truth be told, gimme Alexander all day every day! 😻 I'll try to talk my man into watching it...he will... it might take me a couple days, but I'll wear him down! 😂. I shall report back after I finish it! Btw, one of the things I liked about Requiem was the whole John Dee/Monas hieroglyphica thing which I read.about after the show cuz it was mysterious and interesting. I love that sort of stuff!

There's soooo much fodder for Frank's brand of thoughtful intellectual commentary. Man...it would have been great! (big sigh implied)...sorry I'll try to stop moping! 😂

2024-12-19 21:15:36 +0000 UTCYup. Agree, Melissa. And TD4 was a show which flipped the gender thing in the best possible way. All the choices made sense...it was really high quality all around. If anything, TD4 is a shining example of how to do all that stuff the right way (a lot like IWTV, now that I think of it). Also, I really liked the message (or the message I got from TD4 anyway) because TD1 is much beloved (and for good reason) but it incidentally demonizes ancient cultural nature symbols (which makes sense because those symbols are always perverted in modern society -- I actually think the show runners were making commentary specifically about that perversion of those symbols, but most people took it at face value). So ...I like that TD4 embraced those same symbols and un-demonized them. Whoa...sorry about the run on sentence! 😂

2024-12-18 17:07:40 +0000 UTCYeah, it's totally understandable. They're vile, but they take shape as individuals who I started, in part, to understand and care for. There's humor as well. My advice is get through S1. If you aren't hooked by the finale then, it's not for you. It took one full season for me to love it & I honestly became obsessed with the quality of the show (acting, writing, etc). But a full season IS a lot to ask. It's just so well done on every level. And remember, you're supposed to dislike the characters and their wealth and privilege. It's kind of the point. But I know it's not for everyone.

If it's not about two white guys -- throw in a woman or a POC character here or there -- then it's "woke" or makes them feel they're not safe in their comfy bubble. (Oops! Are my political views showing? Sorry not sorry. 🙃)

2024-12-18 11:13:06 +0000 UTCAA: I finished it. I didn't love it, but it was good. Definitely had a distinct atmosphere and a decent mystery at its center. I'm glad I gave it a chance. My turn: Have you seen "River" with Stellan Skarsgard? 6 episodes, 2015, Amazon. It's a crime drama wrapped in psychological mystery. Incredible acting, characters, and atmosphere. It has one of my favorite scenes in ALL of television. Did you watch 1899? I'm pissed Netflix didn't give it S2/3, but I recommend it anyway to anyone okay with the mystery being left unresolved. Lastly, I took early retirement from teaching after 30 years and work part time so I have a lot of time on my hands. So, yeah, I finish things pretty quickly.

There's something very pleasing about the feeling of the show (although creepy) but, like Dark, the mood of it sucked me into their world. I missed it when it was over. Dark was the same. Maybe that's partly what I liked was being enveloped in that feeling again -- the look, the sound design, the atmosphere... and I love the Welsh countryside. (maybe I just think Europe is pretty?? 😂). I'm honestly excited you're watching it cuz I don't know anyone besides my hubby and my mom who have seen it! You're officially my only Requiem buddy! 😹

I mean, it's way better than seasons 2 or 3 and those seasons didn't get as much backlash as 4. I thought season 4 was really well done and I enjoyed it a lot. I think the ending was confusing to some people... but I think it's meant to be a bit ambiguous... and when I thought about it, I liked the implications -- the message (or rather, my humble interpretation of it).

Honestly, I thought Requiem was moody and creepy but I didn't think it crossed into scary (but I like scary so I'm probably a bad judge). My apologies... I really thought of it as similar to Dark...a bit darker than Dark but not excessively dark. Hope it won't give you nightmares! But our heroine has cool hair, no? 😃

2024-12-16 20:54:21 +0000 UTCThanks so much for the info, Melissa! Requiem is on Netflix (2018)...it has a mood which reminds me of Dark. Except it's in English and filmed in Wales. It's only 6 episodes. I dunno...I love things which incorporate real stuff (obscure stuff) from history like John Dee the British Alchemist from the early 1600s, the Monas Hieroglyphica, the "real" language of angels, etc. Plus its filmed on beautiful location in Wales -- I'm a sucker for that, too. It's a bit darker than Dark...and the main character reminds me of you (your photo)...it must be the hair! Anyway, I really liked it ...if you are looking for 6 moody episodes of creepy fun, I'd love to know what you think! 😇. Footnote: Requiem didn't do as well as Dark (rotten tomatoes score is lower, etc) partially because people get confused by the ending. Also.I think it's not common knowledge that John Dee, etc., were real. But I did notice a few things online explaining the ending. I didn't think the ending was terribly confusing but the explanation was kinda fun to read anyway. Sorry if this is out of left field -- I am frequently reminded of the show when I see your photo pop up! Hope its not weird to say that! 😂

I'm embarrassed to admit it! 8 hours of TV and somehow I've gone all gooey over someone who I previously didn't rate at all?? 😂 Not sure what that says about me, but kudos to Matthew for damaging my psyche so quickly! 😍😂

2024-12-15 23:04:25 +0000 UTCMr Robot is one of the best and most underrated shows I have ever watched. The plot, acting, writing, score, and cinematography are AMAZING. It’s a work of art. It’s also a show that you would be able to speak about and analyze. Every reactor I have seen start the series, hasbeen hooked by the end of the pilot episode, and then wonder why more people haven’t seen it. They compare it with the greats. I watched it in real time from premiere to finale. Also, the “technology” is 100% valid (while often sped up for time.) The creator of this show put a LOT of love into making things as accurate as possible. I hope you will give it a chance. Thank you for reading my plea. 😁🤞🏻❤️

FoxTaco is reacting to "Black Sails" now & I also subscribe to MovieMan101 who is covering "Dark" and starting "Mr. Robot" soon. Therefore, I voted for something DIFFERENT. :) The more content, the better!! Each of you brings something different to the table, and I love that. I put in my vote. I'd be happy with "Mr. Robot," "True Detective," and "Shogun." I'm watching "Shogun" right now, and I'm struggling to follow all of the characters, but it's really good. I haven't watched "Fallout" or "Derry Girls," but I'm open to them. "Succession" is in my top 5 best shows ever. Honestly, I think "Hill House" may be too scary?? I really like having multiple reactors and a variety of content. (IWTV was really the only show that I would watch people react to again and again -- but that's my sickness. ;))

The writing is brilliant, the acting is brilliant, the filming is brilliant, the sound design is brilliant. And tons of philosophical meat for your brand of reactions. It's been called 8 perfect hours of TV... and not a huge time commitment. Plus, YouTube hasn't had a good new True Detective reaction in a long time and the fans are always looking for a good new reactor. ❤🙏😇
