2024-12-10 23:24:11 +0000 UTCIt's not that Abigail broke him again that Will skipped time again; he checked himself out of the hospital before his doctor found the illness that Hannibal has been hiding. They only treated the fever, one of the symptoms out of many. So understandably, it relapsed again. If only Will waited until they treated it. But that won't make a good TV show lol Cringed every time Jack talks about Will here. He's so ableist :/ Hannibal is good. I think he wanted to play with Will as long as he could but he also knew it's about time Will found out about him, so he used Will's illness and had been building up "proofs" to blame him as safety nets. I also watched The Penguin. For me, Hannibal is a confident gaslighter and manipulator. Meanwhile, Penguin is the desperate and sometimes pathetic gaslighter and manipulator. It's very obvious to the people who have known him for years when he's desperate. Unfortunately, out of them all, only Sofia still lives. Btw I went 👀 when you said The Penguin is the show of the year, remembering IWTV lol. Anyway, Armand though won the best gaslighter for me, because many people /still/ didn't realize he's been gaslighting Louis despite his method is the closest to the movie Gaslight, which the term comes from. I recommend that movie. And also, can't wait for you to start Hannibal season 2. That's the best season in the series by far

2024-12-01 19:36:03 +0000 UTCYesss you get it— truly the best way to enjoy this show is to imagine it takes place in some sort of twilight zone or purgatory— some kind of relatively chill circle of hell lol. Will has psychic powers and talks to ghosts, West Virginia somehow has a coastline, all the characters are experiencing their own personalized hell, and Hannibal is literally the devil who’s inserting himself in these events and genuinely having such a good time 😄

2024-12-01 16:19:26 +0000 UTCThey do touch on this concept throughout when they periodically talk about death and God, and in later episodes (S3), plot events involving hell and Lucifer (Dante's Inferno, etc.). Yet, I concur . . . it's really something that is left up to the viewer to decide and judge. I think he's pure evil -- Mads just does such a good job at making him seem human in his "person suit." That is my favorite line of the series when Dr. Du Maurier (sp?) says he wears "a person suit." BRILLIANT and SPOT ON. I always love your comments, Val. :)

They're always fantastic, but you were IN IT this episode. :) :) My favorite thing is when you look at the camera and just shake your head from side to side. It's like Fleabag breaking the fourth wall. The Good Place is a half hour show, like Fleabag, so it might be one that you can knock out two at a time. I guess it depends on how well you like it. I recently rewatched the whole thing b/c I needed something uplifting after the election results. I know you'll like it. I hope it's deep enough for some quality reactions -- if anyone can do that, it's YOU. Thanks for all the great content this week, especially during the holiday.

2024-12-01 06:27:49 +0000 UTCYou called Hannibal devilish at least three times in this episode, which indicates to me that it’s probably time to share my (totally non-canon) pet theory about this series. I think Hannibal is the literal devil. Like Lucifer or Satan or whatever. He’s out here corrupting souls, playing God, being supernaturally skilled, supernaturally lucky. The show never goes there but it fits him so well.
