Hannibal 1x11 | Full Length Reaction

Comments

*straight UP fabulous. Lol

The Existential Shrew

I still remember Eddie Izzard looking straight fabulous doing comedy shows. I wonder if he's still up to it?

The Existential Shrew

The most frightening thing to me in this whole mess is that when Hannibal says he wants to be Will's friend, I think he genuinely means it. To us, it seems barbaric, the things Hannibal does to Will, but to him I think he genuinely believes he is doing things to help Will out. He really thinks that he is expanding Will's mind and toughening his resolve by putting him through these trials. He wanted Will to be able to save Alana so he engineered a situation to make it happen, even if it could have backfired horribly.

Every episode this show finds a new way to traumatize Frank lol

I know we've got a ways to go with Hannibal (happily), but I suggest Six Feet Under as another PEAK dark, thought provoking show to replace this one in the line-up. I assume it's been recommended before - it's very worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

that scene when Will is crying saying "Please don't lie to me" will ALWAYS break my heart :((((

i think one of the hardest scenes is still will breaking down and saying "please don't lie to me" and hannibal LIES TO HIM i know it's a game for hannibal but i just i felt so bad for will he's literally begging for help and he only has one person in his life he is comfortable to go to...the absolute betrayal

And now we have Hannibal messing with Alanna, who he also likes. Bad cannibal! I liked the previous comments and still feel the need to contribute to the warnings — you’re not ready for the next two episodes. And you can’t become ready for them, you can only brace yourself and hold on tight. I recommend a dance party with your kitties to shake it off. The blooper reels for each season are also very therapeutic—watching the cast laughing and joking around in the middle of staged crime scenes brings back perspective. The show is chilling, but NONE of it is REAL.

Your reaction/commentary is thoughtful and hilarious. Enjoying watching you experience this story, they really put Will (and Dr. Chilton, to be fair) through a lot. And, I love when your kitties bother you; I had a black one and an orange one, they're both gone now. It's great to see yours!

Charlie Ito

the "I said it was mild" part is so funny to me, it cracks me up all the time. he's so ridiculous. Mads Mikkelsen is an absolute powerhouse, especially in this role. Loved the reaction as always <3

This show is all about heightened psychological horror, elevating common fears like whether your doctor has not told you the whole truth, whether your therapist is really helping you or not, and can you really rely and trust those that seem like they care for you. It then transforms those common fears into vivid nightmares. The show is truly a "fever dream blood opera" as Hugh Dancy has called it. We are meant to feel just as unmoored and on the verge of drowning as Will is, for us to "see" through his eyes. When a someone is as empathetic and caring as you are, Frank, it can make the feelings the show brings out extra intense and challenging. Please give your adorable kitties some extra cuddles and have a wonderful holiday.🥰 PS: some things to appreciate about this episode: the title is Roti, the french cooking term for roasted which echos Will's feverish state. Also love the wonderful visuals for Will's drowning nightmare where the melting clock suggests a Dali painting come to life.

Leave Will Graham alone! 😭

Thank you for the holiday wishes. I reserve my commentary on this episode. Thank you again Franklin for all the wonderful shows and thoughtful commentary. Blessings to you, to those who love and who love you in return.

Can't wait for the next 2 eps, they're amazing!

I think that all the water imagery is related to the encephalitis in his brain. He's drowning without treatment that could easily remedy it. And fucking Hannibal just sitting by and watching it happen because it's fascinating to him. Some friend, isn't he? Diabolical. He used Will to take out Gideon instead of doing it himself. 😠 I cannot stress this enough: strap in for the last 2 episodes. No matter how ready you think you are? You're wrong. 😬
