That can was supposed to be delivered to the Cubans, but was wasting away out there. The Greek thought the Cubans were getting greedy and demanding so they gave their shit away.

The problem is while they are playing chess, mfs like White Mike are out there playing checkers or Connect Four and messing it up for everybody. Gotta watch the company you keep. The Greek gave up that stash because he felt they were on it and also they were having issues with the Columbians, so it was like a 2 for 1. On top of that it would give a big win to Agent Koutras, their FBI mole, and actually make the cops look bad because they didn't pull in that bust, which would have been a massive win. Seizure of 45M in narcotics, huge. At least that is how I always read it. The Greek may not know what police are on them but they know how to play the agencies against each other. The reveal of Brother feels like a damned John Wick character. It's dope.

Fun fact, The bald detective (Norris) that has Bodie in the box was played by Edward T. Norris. Mr. Norris was the real life Baltimore police commissioner from 2000-2002. Fun fact 2. Lt. Mello (Robert Wisdom’s 2nd in command) is played by Jay Landsman. Landsman was a real life Baltimore homicide detective, and is who McNulty is partially based on along with John Munch from Law and Order. Munch first appeared in David Simon’s first series Homicide: Life on the Streets. Also, the guy you call John Cena is playing Jay Landsman. Fun fact 3. The big guy that was testing the purity with Stringer is played by Donnie Andrews. Donnie Andrews is the real life Omar.
