Random trivia. They drink M&S G&Ts. The Gin and Tonic in this show is specifically from M&S — Marks and Spencer - a higher end grocery store in the UK. After it aired, this show is directly responsible for a 24% spike in sales of this actual cocktail in a can from their stores. 🍸🤩😉 Cheers! 2024-11-26 02:22:54 +0000 UTCI think you are spot on with what is going on with Claire when they have that argument. Claire is under a lot of pressure, and she knows, deep down, that her marriage has failed. But clinging to perfection is such a huge part of her personality that in this moment she is deeply jealous of how Fleabag is able to ignore convention and embarrassment without it being the end of the world. It's a reaction that is very unfair to Fleabag, but in a way I found it quite hopeful, because it illustrates that they aren’t the successful sister and the failure sister, as they slightly seem in S1. Their traits have positive and negative sides and the roles that society/their family/they themselves assign to them are flattening and simplistic. Hot Priest seeing Fleabag breaking the fourth wall is SUCH a moment. When Fleabag talks to the camera I picture her, in the “real” world, briefly dissociating from whatever conversation she’s in. Most people don’t notice, because human nature means we are all primarily thinking about ourselves most of the time from moment to moment and not absorbing others’ minutiae, and often reacting as much to our established idea of other people’s role/character (e.g. Fleabag within her family is the quirky, funny failure) as the way they are being. But the Priest is paying attention to Fleabag as a complicated person. And he’s not afraid to come out and ask her about it, because part of what makes him and Fleabag click is that they are both little out of sync with social conventions.

2024-11-17 16:36:01 +0000 UTCI am really loving this show. I interpreted the Priest knowing when Fleabag talks to the camera as a sign that he *really* sees *her*, in all her complexity (not like her family or her casual boyfriends, who only see a one-dimensional version of her that's basically projected, not really perceived). I think it's about him seeing her, because he doesn't actually see *us*; he knows she goes "somewhere", but doesn't know where, doesn't know who she talks to. Definitely interesting! Another thing that I noticed this season is that it acts as an inverse parallel with the first: the first is about Fleabag trying to find out who she is via her interactions with different types of men, this one she finds herself interacting with different types of women; last one the person who knew her deeply was a woman, Boo, this one is the Priest, a man; last one she was trying to cope with financial struggle, this one with unexpected success... It's like someone (well, Phoebe herself!) took the first season and turned it around on every axis. So fun!!

2024-11-12 10:01:21 +0000 UTCThe priest, noticing fleabag interacting with us, makes me think of two different scenarios. One that he actually “sees her” number two is he is a mirror male image of fleabag. He’s running away from relationship and sex hiding in the priesthood because he’s afraid to love and has had “many” encounters. Fleabag has had many many encounters to punish her self for repressing the death of boo and her responsibility in it so she uses sex as a weapon against herself, but doesn’t hide it so that all can see. I don’t think it came out as well as I was thinking it would. I truly enjoyed the meeting of the woman of the year and the entire bar scene and how beautifully the older woman described being a woman and menopause setting you free. Claire and fleabag Claire is buttoned up so tight follows all the rules even stays in a relationship, but it’s unfulfilling why? Because I believe she thinks that if she is the good girl to fleabag bad girl, that somehow someway she’ll be lovable, no matter how hard she tries, she will never be fleabag. She will always be clear and she presents her own inability to allow herself permission to not be buttoned up so tight and just free herself. The therapist was funny the very first thing she’s taking Claire’s time by lotion up her dry arms. I’ve never had a good feeling about therapist. When I need someone to speak to, that doesn’t understand me I talk to myself. I look in word and I’m brutally honest and through my own process I learned to be a comfort and a cheerleader for myself when I conquer my fears or confusions. The woods, the mountains, the ocean, the icebergs, the wildlife all around me here in Alaska is my church and my temple walking on the beach with no shoes on swimming glacier water when my blood is boiling sitting quietly by Mountain and breathing, I find myself grounded and well centered, even if I haven’t come to a conclusion within myself about the journey or questions that lay in multiple layers waiting for that right moment that right time when the answer I truly need comes to me on a soft whisper on the windand my spirit finds its own grace.

2024-11-12 01:49:47 +0000 UTCso....this was perfect! Very funny, yet still dramatical. I orderd a "cava bundle" on delivery(2 bottles of cava) and plan to start the reaction from the beginning. I live alone, so I will drink from the bottle to celebrate my independance...and the fact that I do not own champaign flutes!

2024-11-12 01:10:28 +0000 UTCI absolutely love Andrew Scott's performance (the priest), he's so expressive and has so much chemistry with Phoebe. I love his film All of Us Strangers where he plays a really traumatized gay man, he's so captivating in everything he does

2024-11-12 00:09:26 +0000 UTCI think the priest noticing her 4th Wall break shows that, of all the people Fleabag knows, only he really pays serious attention to her. It's intimacy in a way that Fleabag hasn't got from anyone else.

2024-11-11 23:45:21 +0000 UTC“Ohhh I don’t know how to talk to babies, sorry.” Episode 3 has such amazing dialogue in it. The entire convo between Belinda and Fleabag at the bar is one of the highlights of the series to me. I interpret the interaction between Claire and Fleabag as an ongoing mix of just sister things/projection/Claire’s frustration with her life in general. The Hot Priest being able to see her drift off is my favorite moment ever. I view it as him really *seeing her*. Also, the fox mentions are so interesting to me. There are a few very cool theories about it but I’ve always thought the fox represents his religious doubt. Can’t wait to get into more of this series on here!

2024-11-11 23:43:05 +0000 UTCI loved the conversation between Belinda and Fleabag, just the whole scene and what Belinda said about women being born with pain built in was beautiful. Never thought of it that way it was a bit of a gut punch as a woman haha
