2025-01-25 02:03:49 +0000 UTCBig fact! And I also like that this is a reality check for Hannibal. He’s usually so dominant over people. Iron sharpens iron I guess.

2024-11-15 18:53:25 +0000 UTCFor real, but Tobias showed Hannibal how sloppy he had gotten because he should have noticed someone following him. You could tell Hannibal was mad when he brought it up lol man was seething 🤣

2024-11-13 01:34:48 +0000 UTCI find it funny how Hannibal purposely gets his azz beat to save said azz lol I think the reason for sending Will to investigate Tobias is simple. Hannibal could not kill Tobias himself because of the connection with Franklin, which is why he sends Will to investigate. I think he was genuinely surprised that Tobias was not dead and was worried he may have sent Will to his death, which is why he's so relieved when he shows up. I think Hannibal and Tobias think the same and so Tobias was aware that Hannibal sent the cops to "investigate," which is why he shows up at Hannibals and why Jack finds it fishy. I think Hannibal got lucky because Franklin chose to do a therapy session that day, so it was also an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. He couldn't kill Franklin either, so he gave him a referral. But Tobias showed up unexpectedly and gives him a way to kill two birds with one stone 🤣

2024-11-12 17:51:09 +0000 UTCI like that a lot. He did want to impress Hannibal. So probably the whole speech he gave his friend at the end was something he rehearsed, so Hannibal could watch and be impressed

2024-11-11 02:35:32 +0000 UTCThat is quite so interesting. I like this. He's always thinking ahead. We all know Hannibal makes the best out of any situation no matter how bad it is. So maybe this situation just got out of hand, and toward the end of the fight then he started putting together the optics for the cops

2024-11-11 02:31:31 +0000 UTCThat breaks my mind totally. Him being so relieved that will is alive while being the one who set it up. He might have even dreaded the idea, but that was the test he wanted will to pass

2024-11-11 02:26:57 +0000 UTCMy takeaway from Franklin is, he wants to win Hannibal over by showing how they're similar, so they can be "friends" - and he thinks Hannibal just needs some convincing he's worthy of Hannibal's respect and trust. Loved your observation about how Franklin unsettles Hannibal, they did a great job of portraying him as being so cheesy.

2024-11-11 01:02:54 +0000 UTCNot a spoiler: Once I saw Hannibal manipulating the crime scene handling the statue and stand with a cloth, it was impossible on rewatch not to wonder at what other moments he may have been preemptively staging the crime scene. Did he allow the fight to go on so long so he’d have believable defensive wounds? How much of that was a true fight, and how much (if any) was for cover? The show leaves this up for speculation, so I’m curious what your thoughts are when you re-watch this to edit it for YouTube.

2024-11-10 15:50:05 +0000 UTC“Are you bored with me?” “YES!” 😂😂😂 This is one of my favorite episodes of season 1. The dialogue, the acting, the tension that builds. Brian Fuller and the show writers are amazing and so creative. I think it’s interesting from your comment on an earlier episode of considering Hannibal to have remorse and other emotions even though he’s a psychopath. I think that’s also evident when he is relieved Will is alive. Even though he set up the encounter, it seemed he was truly worried Will was dead, the one person who seems to understand him.

2024-11-10 03:35:02 +0000 UTCI loved your point about serial killers getting fan mail. I think you’re right, there are some people like Franklin who love the idea of their own empathy. They think, if I just love this murderer enough I can change him, he will see that I’m special and will treat me differently. It’s not true, of course, because they’re not really understanding these murderers. They’re “humanizing” them for lack of a better term. Just like Franklin does in his final speech, he’s so wrong about Tobias. 😬 Will ACTUALLY has empathy for the killers. It’s not healing and it doesn’t protect him from them. It’s horrifying and dangerous.

2024-11-10 03:27:03 +0000 UTCYou know how it is: you are contemplating becoming friends with someone so you arrange for them to fight to the death with a serial killer to test their skills! If they survive, boom, new buddy!

2024-11-10 03:11:47 +0000 UTCNat King Cole, one of the greatest singers I have ever had the pleasure of hearing seeing live. I don’t know why but the moment the ending with Hannibal and his therapist this song came rushing forward. It’s called “nature boy.” https://youtu.be/Iq0XJCJ1Srw?si=87p9jt72VxSBJHWm somewhere in the lyrics, melody, musical craftsmanship I believe the answer to Hannibal, Jack and Andy is tied up in just to love and be loved in return.

2024-11-10 02:33:16 +0000 UTCi loved the franklyn arc he's such a goofy character about hannibal sending will to tobias: just before that hannibal's psychiatrist says "you spend a lot of time building walls. it's natural to want to see if someone is clever enough to climb over them" which makes me think in some crazy way, hannibal was putting will to the test for his friendship + him saying "i was worried you were dead" with those glowy eyes oof everything about this episode is just SO PEAK im so excited for the next reactions
