Like Frank, you don't even know!! Perfectly said Jenny. I love when movies do that. when they help the audience understand the plights of an issue/demographic we might not even think about or understand the weight of their problems.

2024-06-22 10:33:29 +0000 UTCThis is what I found about the treatment they gave him “In a review of the Nash history, Fink ascribed the success of coma treatments to the 10% of associated seizures, noting that physicians often augmented the comas by convulsions induced by ECT. He envisioned insulin coma treatment as a weak form of convulsive therapy.” This film won best picture. Best supporting Actress. , Best Director and Best Writing. Russel Crowe was nominated for Best Actor and sadly, did not win. Denzel Washington won that year for Training Day. I love Denzel but Russell was robbed.

2024-06-21 23:58:27 +0000 UTCIts so heartbreaking to keep hearing you say "at least he has his roommate" 😭 One of my favorite things about this movie is how we as the audience are brought into John's delusions and we are just as delusional as he is for a time. I think its a beautiful way for those of us without an illness like schizophrenia to empathize with people who struggle with these challenges. Like you said, we really GET it when we watch this. We are put in his shoes to fully appreciate the weight of that experience both for Nash and for the people who care for him.
