Audio volume issues

Hi guys! Some of you have let me know my audios are super quiet, trust me, I’ve been trying to solve this for months! πŸ₯²

I am using a Neumann tlm 107. It’s a quiet and sensitive mic. If I turn the gain up too much, it picks up *everything.* Cars, birds, my breathing and tummy growls, etc. It then becomes an editing nightmare. To record around these obstacles can add hours to my work time. I would have to use heavier noise reductions that make my voice sound strange and redo some takes all together.

I record in a loft with really high walls. I do not have a proper space to do this kind of work. I can’t soundproof the place or anything so I’m kinda just stuck with what I’ve got.

I will see what I can do for next time because this issue has been frustrating the fuck out of me πŸ₯² I just wanted to let you guys know I’m aware of the problem and seeking solutions.

That’s all for now, I’ve got a surprise for you guys later! πŸ’•

Fair enough. Maybe just put a big piece of foam in front of your window when you record, lol. That's my last possible idea.

The real issue is the noise outside, treating the walls in this particular room isn’t going to change anything unfortunately.

What about hanging blankets on your walls? I heard that may help to soundproof cheaply? Or can you not hang anything on the walls?

I am using one of those actually, it still doesn’t cover everything but it helps

I think they sell soundproof barriers that you can put around the mic. These aren't ones that you would put on the wall either. I can link it here if you want or on discord.
