A Poem from my upcoming book: Ecstaticism

The temple cracked as the waves rose higher,
“In here we are safe,” I held you tighter.
The bursts of light came raining down.
No, we could not save this sinking town.
Crystals shattered across the floor,
I still recall the winds, the roar.
The angry gales that drowned bright embers,
We clung to stones, we vowed forever.
Our crystal castle, now coral keeps.
I lost your hand into the deep.
You called to me, I sought your face,
I heard your voice out in the waves.
No, I’ll not forget you, my dearest friend;
I’ll carry our story until the end.
Those final days, carved in my heart;
You were my temple’s most precious part.
Can you recall what’s long been lost, my friend?
My brother, my lover, come back again.
I made a vow to sand and stone,
To never leave you all alone.
But when tides receded, you weren’t there.
I knew I’d find you — sometime, somewhere.
Through empty wastelands I wandered bare,
My shattered city, my deep despair.
No sacred prophet, no living guide;
Now alone I linger, alone abide.
But let us remember our sacred spire,
Our hidden halls where minds flew higher.
That ancient palace, now lore forgot;
No longer thriving, our cities rot.
Our home buried ’neath surf and tide;
But you’re eternal. We’ll again collide.
I’ll come find you, my beloved friend.
And I’ll sing your story until the end.
Our forgotten promise will rise again.
I will sing of you, my beloved friend.
