Well said about everything, Jon. I’d just add that it’s SO HARD to know what you really want due to societal program. And that’s my point about needing to explore to figure that out.

2023-08-01 21:12:47 +0000 UTCOne more point. We don't remember every meal we have either. We don't have to. We wouldn't even want to. Sometimes it's okay for many people to just enjoy a snack. It doesn't take away from those mind-blowing four-course dinners that stick in one's mind. Many of us need a range of experiences so life can be both satisfying and interesting. I don't want mind-blowing Tantric connection each time I have an orgasm. I wouldn't even be able to fit that into my calendar. Sometimes (and Puritans freak out at this) it's really okay to do something because you are enjoying the company with and its fun!

2023-07-29 01:58:47 +0000 UTCAs a person who studies sexual ethics, I've found that there are plenty of people who want to be monogamous, there are plenty of people who do not want to be monogamous, and a bunch of people who feel more one way or more the other depending on their stage of life and the situation. The real problem with monogamy is assuming that everybody needs to do it so we don't have to talk about what we really want. I really wish we could have honest conversations so that monogamous-oriented people could find each other, and those who are not can honestly negotiate the relationships that work for them. There is no one-size-fits-all. Neither is there a conspiracy to make everyone polyamorous. People need to search their own hearts and have the guts to honestly communicate what they want and need at their stage in life with the people they want to share those relationships with.
