A Promise Kept - Chapter 28 - The Black Lake

The second task of the tournament unfolds...

Comments

I I don't blame the organizers either, if anything I blame those who foolishly and willingly entered their names...Fleur, Krum, Cedric. They all knew or should have known how dangerous this whole thing would be when they entered it. Yet they all did so willing then they are shocked when things like this happen? I mean c'mon, they are supposed to be older and smarter students and by doing this I see no wisdom in any of them....all for the sake of glory of all the foolish things. Glory means nothing if ya are dead it is a fleeting as the seasons.

So... a spectator, by all accounts, was able to involve themselves into an ancient tournament just like that.... Outside of the security, surely there's gotta be repercussions from the Goblet for that, both to Fleur's magic & Harry? I'm sure in canon that, while cheating is tradition, champions are prohibited from any blatant help. Also, logic & Gabby's confirmation helped Harry deduce the 2nd task would take place in the Black Lake, but he couldn't reason that Dumbledore would've protected the 'hostages', which they were through the enchanted sleep. Having said that, the author was correct to have Harry 'save' her, as it's in line with who he is... risking his life for those he cares about. I don't particularly care for the trope of blaming the tournament organisers for endangering the contestants. Prospective champions are literally told of the dangers of the tournament and most people are aware of its history, so it's not like you don't know what you could be signing up for??? Anyway, thank you for the chapter.

I have yet to see any of the girls in Harry's life truly be able to hold their own, seems most of the time so far Harry has been playing the knight in shining armor to majority of them.
