Fair points. I never noticed before, but they really tortured Brenda in these final few episodes. Especially in the finale. I know Nate’s criticism is meant to be her own irrational fears, but it did bother me how much they put Brenda through before the end.

The number of times they (the writers) abuse Brenda in the final act of this show is actually my biggest critique of the entire package. On it’s own I don’t even mind Nate’s final insult as his brain bleeds out because death is random and people are flawed - it isn’t even out of character it just sucks in the way life sucks and if anything it gives her more to react to post mortem. When you couple that with the random uncharacteristic incest dream coming from Brenda’s brain it is out of character and damages 5 seasons of her build - and then you button it by having her death be kind of a punchline when she was a mother and a person who grew, not just Billy’s bff. I mentioned in another comment the costume designer ALSO hated Brenda. She’s still a favorite even though she deserved a much richer closure and far fewer pleated slacks.

Vanessa+ Rico making moves, David dealing with his PTSD & the loss & trying to be there for Keith & them kids, Ruth & George caring for Maya, Billy caring for Brenda. Ted & wild ass Claire. 😔 Omg! So much pain but also so much Love 32:00 Your face was my face. Cause Brenda & Billy in the Dream 😬 😱… It was to Lannister-ry For Me! I blocked that trauma from my head cause this felt like a brand new scene. Somebody in the writers ✍️ room need to make a confession. Something! Lol… but Billy tho 🥴 smh nvm.
