2023-06-03 05:11:20 +0000 UTCStarting with the brilliant "I wish I knew how to quit you" scene all the way to the end it is so emotionally devastating. I remember sitting in the movie theater when it came out. I went to see it first with my boss (who was gay as well) and we were both sobbing for the last half hour--as were so many other gay men. I saw this movie several times in the theater--I couldn't get enough of it. It is so beautifully devastating--the writing, the direction by Ang Lee, and the ACTING, my God! Not to mention the the stunning cinematography, the music...I have never gotten over this film. It is a subtle, quiet, emotionally brutal masterpiece. Yet so many gay people all over the world had to live their lives like this (and you said it yourself, many still do, not only where you live but in many places). We need to remember them.
