Despite of Joy's reality bending powers, some characters are not affected or have a high resistance to its influence, being capable of withstand the charm or decide if they will fall into it (something like letting you get carried away or not for love, lust anger or other stuff IRL when you are capable of controlling it).

Destiny is naturally motherly and joyful, this alone grant her a superior protection for it, but that day she knew the wing weren't "real," and I'll let you think if that was enough for her not be affected, hehe. Other characters like Mandy, Jana herself and their mother also have high resistance AND affinity as well, and this is why Joy took Jana's body.

At the same time, the "Spring Bloom" necklace protects Jana from external influences, like the Goddess Mark does - though it won't protect you from being drunk, hehe. Other necklaces have other behaviors: The Winter Heart tries to capture the power but is unsuccessful on it, making Patricia have headaches. At least she knows something is wrong.

Mr. Tyson despite of his strong mind is not completely mature in other areas, making his susceptible, different to Stan who has some natural resistance, mind fortitude and maturity, like Miss Knoda who has resistance, but she let it go because they were with each other.
