Pollinated 2 is done! Really having fun with this small project so far. The last image had a hard blue tone overall but some of you may notice that its toned down in this one which I feel I may apply to the rest of this but not sure. I toned it down mostly because the relatively warm tones on the guy pretty much disappeared made him quite neutral. Speaking of the guy, I mentioned in the past I wanted to understand a bit more on how to shade and render dark skin since when every time I render them, it felt like it was just 1 color with just changing hues rather than an array of colors like in real life. I saw that certain highlights had applications of slight blues for dark skin which was interesting to me, but I wasnt sure if that was due to the references ambient lighting or if that was visibly apparent universally.
When I applied it, it seemed too much for me so I went with the typical route of what I would do with light skin and apply some tints of reds/orange at the rim of the shadows and mid tones but once it gets deeper to the umbra, Id apply bits of purple and blue. I definitely have to research some more and train my eyes a bit more upon the subject but I hope he came out well. Going to try my best to keep this consistent x) also 1 last detail I tried working on was the dorsal vein again. I noticed that other veins were very pronounced but the dorsal vein, as dominant as it is, is quite subtle and doesnt have too strong highlights apparently. Its also a little more embedded within the skin in contrast to the other veins so I attempted to recreate that here. going to need to work on it some more of course but I do hope I get it down eventually. Anyway, hope you all like!
