Motherly Love

This one was supposed to be just a simpler piece with just Raven and Yang as the focal image (at the left side) but i thought it could use a bit more transitions and stuff to be a bit more dynamic c: i kind of like the idea of putting multiple pieces into one like the Gardevoir pic i made a while back so this was definitely a bit of fun! Placing the texts however was a pain to make sure it didnt look too cluttered. Also, i wanted to approach more long haired characters as you can tell! Yang and her hair was much more terrifying to approach compared to Neo's uniform swirl from my last piece. Yang's was far more energetic, thick, and free so i had to break up sections of her hair by pieces to identify the direction it would flow. i also felt that it needed a bit more depth to punctuate the thickness of her hair so i tried adding more variations of values which is more noticeable at the bottom right image in my opinion. As for Raven's hair, at the sketch phase it was difficult to choose which hairstyle to go with since her animated model had yangs hair (all curled) but in volume 3, it was shown she had spiked hair that was tied up.

of course that was her younger picture but still. As you can see, i went with the spiked hair for variation and to avoid just having a Yang copy. Another understanding i wanted to get around to was providing a muscular build for women that have just enough bulk but not monstrous and still slender-ish. as seen here it's Raven. I figured that since she had such a high caliber in her fighting skills, she definitely had to have a fit body to pronounce that as well. of course, i'm not the most anatomically correct person out there obviously but i have to keep trying of course. and lastly, feet! to be honest, i'm not a big fan of feet or any foot fetishes and i try to avoid it as much as possible, HOWEVER i can definitely appreciate it as a little "extra" to a piece rather than it being the focal fetish. plus i couldnt just avoid it just because i suck at drawing them so i thought it'd be a bit of fun having them, as i stated before, a little "extra" liveliness to the piece. that's all for now, on to the next!
