You are all good! No shade, just trying to make sure we are listening to feedback. I appreciate you willing to do that.

CORE - Video Games Discussion for CORE Gamers

I did have a good time, sorry if it seemed like I was saying it wasn't good. I work alone and I listen to 3-6hrs of podcasts a day and among all the Critical Role and Welcome to Night Vale and Revolutions podcasts that I listen to (and dozens of others), CORE is always the highlight every week. Honestly I shouldn't have said anything at all, it's really just me being too sensitive about others having a negative opinion on something that I had an overall positive opinion on myself. Please keep up the good work making the best gaming podcast on the internet!

Hope you had a good time. We enjoyed doing it.

Is a video version coming still ?

Thank you Jeremiah, I appreciate the overview. I think I'll give it a go. I didn't hate this VGA and thought it was a step in the right direction. I also didn't know Okami was such a hit to a broader audience. I remember playing the original and it being fairly niche. So that was a nice surprise. I'll keep my warm optimism within and let the guys do their thing. I still love everything about the show and all the other content Scott works. Just didn't want to set myself up to feel bad about liking the showcase or feeling like I'm an outsider for being optimistic. So I really appreciate your feedback.

Hi, Scott here. I don't think I said it was a funny joke. I think I said it would be the craziest thing he could do in the moment.

I'd say it was fine for the most part, just the usual griping about how "cringe" the jokes are as if they expect a once a year event about video games to be written by Conan O'Brien or something. There were really just a couple of moments where I felt like Beau especially was being overly jaded and cynical (that Intergalactic trailer was really the worst trailer you've ever seen? Really?) that stood out to me. But I'm like you, and I try to be optimistic when it comes to video games and save the pessimism for everything else, so maybe it came off differently to other people and I'm just overly sensitive to it. I listened to the whole thing and CORE is still my favorite gaming podcast, but if this particular VGAs was "full cringe", then I don't see how they could ever make one that was not cringe enough to satisfy Beau unless Keighley just read down a list of awards and their winners for 15 minutes. I still thought it was enjoyable overall though! If you want more overall positive coverage of it though, the MinnMax stream of it was pretty good!

I'm wondering if I should skip commentary this year. Last year, it kind of brought me down. I completely understand that it's their job to criticize the showcase, but I enjoy my naive optimism (not a lot to be hyped about otherwise) and I don't want the grumpy vibes to dampen that this year. Please let me know if I'm totally off base. I don't skip any Frogpants content lightly.

Aarontagonist

I guess there's always next year for Beau to try and be less grumpy about the Game Awards. And why are we complaining about the quality of comedy when Scott said it would be funny if someone farted into the mic?

Jeremiah Abbott

It was so so awesome when Ford came out! The crowd went bonkers, it was cool to see

mikeromo!
