Sarabi laughed as Simba tumbled down the hill of grass in a failed attempt to make it to the top before she did. Her slow ambling gate towards her favorite resting spot had waylaid the young prince long enough and he wanted to get there now!

It was rather odd of Simba to ask for her company, but as a mother, Sarabi loved giving attention to her children. Whether that be doting on her husband, who acted like a king in front of his subjects, but was a child at heart, or her true son, Simba, who was in fact a child.

Simba might act rough about her affections, but late at night she could feel his pushes against her sides, his nips at her teats, and occasionally, his whimpers for comfort. The cub was a mothers boy all the way through. He just felt self conscious about it, like most males.

The cub scampered up to the top of the hill, spun around and waited for his mother to reach him. He reared up and playfully swatted at her muzzle, growling as she batted back at him, taking his legs out from beneath him to scoop him up onto her back.

They play wrestled for a while, the sun slowly reaching its zenith in the sky, before she begged the cub to let her rest. He obliged, tending to his own curiosities as she napped. Simba was young but he was smart, and he never went too far.

As the day wore on, Sarabi heard his paw pads approach her, and felt his paw gently nudging her nose. "Mom...?"

"Hmm?" She inquired, rolling up onto her belly. Simba was a foot or so in front of her. He looked embarrassed, and shy. Judging by how his tail curled around his feet, and his ears pinned back, he was about to broach a subject that made him uncomfortable.

"I learned something the other day that I'm really proud of. When I brought it up to Nala, she didn't seem to be too surprised  by it. When I told Zazu, he got all flustered and said I shouldn't bring it up."

Sarabi nodded, "Did you ask your father?" she asked, licking her front paws slowly. Simba seemed entranced by her tongue, watching it do it's job with rapt attention. after she stopped, his nervousness doubled and he looked away, rubbing a paw across his shoulder.

"I...I couldn't...I was afraid he'd get upset..." He paused, his eyes falling on her muzzle for a moment. "I'm kinda worried you'll get upset too...if I'm honest."

Sarabi hummed and reached out to her cub, but to her surprise he pulled back. Her ears wilted, and she crooned to him gently. "Simba, whatever it is I promise, you won't be in trouble. You clearly have something on your mind that's got you bothered. Children should be able to speak to their parents without fear."

Simba hemmed over that for a moment or two, before he scooted closer, so he was within range. "W-well...can I just show you what I learned?"

Sarabi tilted her head, watching him. his posture was defensive, his cheeks were flush with embarrassment, and his tail was flicking erratically. She nodded slowly.

"Well, I suppose--mpph!" her words were cut off as a smile exploded onto his muzzle, and the cub leaned forward, connecting their muzzles in a firm kiss. Sarabi was so surprised by it that she froze, unsure of what to do until Simba pulled back with a confidant grin. He nuzzled her cheek and proudly proclaimed,

"I learned to kiss like adults!"

Sarabi stared past him, the warmth of Simba's kiss tingled her lips, and her cheeks flushed red.

"S-simba..." She whispered.
